Dunno what your "preferences" are, but .....

For those who come to San Francisco

Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair

If you come to San Francisco

Summertime will be a love-in there

I'm off to Sofia, Bulgaria on Sat for 2 weeks - i'd rather be going to SF, :-) Enjoy it

You will love it - more interesting by far than SF...

Take an extra suitcase and get:

1) Lots of coffee beans. The place is full of roasteries.

2) Craft beer. Look for Red Hook EBS.

3) A monster tattoo.

4) A collection of bicycle bells. The shops there have great ones. I'll even take a few off you. I'm after replacing my old flating eyeball bell.

5) Some funky jeans

6) Lots of Peace-sign T-shirts.

7) A bus trip to Yellowstone National Park where you can see people climbing up El-capitan. Take binocs.

8) Pearl Izumi bicycle clothing.

Yah, and number....

9) Proper SF Sourdough bread - never found that taste anywhere else.

10)Some local wines - the Napa valley close by produces some of the best boutique wines and they are really cheap.

11) Chocolate from the GHIRARDELLI chocolate company, famous in SF.

12) A plastic souvenir from Alcatraz Island - its rubbish but ya gotta have one. :D

......Forget the bicycle stuff, you wont have space.

How could I forget the sourdough bread? I've never had the chocolate, nor even heard of it. And to think I used to go to SF often.

@OP - you can hire an el-cheapo bike and go over the bridge. On the other side of the bay is Marin County - famous for....Marin bikes.

Edit: If you are that way inclined, it is also a good place to look for boyfriends.

  • Eat at Tommy's Joynt!!!

  • Go to the Rapha store

  • See if you can get some Mash SF gear (the originals)

  • Go to one of the neighbourhood bicycle stores and hang out - coffee and bikes

  • Take part in an alleycat
