Ride the first hill (Fox) at your pace and most likely a small group will form around you or you will join a smaller group. Try work with the group whilst it is smaller but then sit in as the group gets bigger and save energy to help out later on when some splitting happens during the race. If you do go to the front and are going too fast or too slow, believe me you will hear about it quickly:)

Seems like you have been riding quite a lot (MUCH more than me!!)...so best of luck.

I really enjoy riding so do it as often as I can, even if it is just my commute.

My problem is that since this is my first race in years (last race was '99 XCO Nationals), I don't have a seeding.

So they stuck me in P batch (2nd last batch).

I've got a 106km individual TT to look forward to, and into a cold/wet head wind the whole way. Fun, fun, fun!

i am also in P You on roadbike or mtb

I was looking so forward to this race... but wet weather and wind is not my friend. I believe there are some serious down hills on this route as well... downhill and wet weather... now there is a lekka recipe for big DWANG!

Could get interesting...pretty sure there won't be much of a wind though. We hope:)

oooopssss.

Have just checked about 5 websites concerning weather for sunday.

Not looking good with anything from 20% - 60% probability of rain.

Damn, on my first one, wet and windy :cursing:

If I remember correctly, the forecast for last year's race didn't look good leading up to race day but it turned out to be decent conditions on the day.

I am hoping this will repeat itself this year and we can have a dry (and safe) race!!

Hi guys

I am racing an old friend. We are at the same level. We have a bet going on who is going to win.

For those who have done this race... Say we are together with 5km to go still what is the best place to attack for the win?? How is the run in?

Very fast. If you're still together in the last 5 prepare for a long sprint.

300m before the end , there is a banner across the road ( last 2 or 3 year - I think) I have seen okes pull away for the sprint only to race under this banners  and then realize the actual finish ahead . . .

By that time the matches has been used and the group swallow them before the actual sprint . . .

If I had to go for a sprint finish , I would take a gap 50 - 80 meters after this banner . . . Straight and fast 220 meters flat out! With your deep sections you will fly away from anyone . . . Be careful as Andy249 will be on your wheel

You could try get away at the short steep climb (offramp)which you climb up onto the highway and then push all the way up tollgate for the last few k's through the city...you might be able to stay away.

Yap, that's right. And in 2011 good weather was predicted but the race started out in pouring rain, only to clear up late morning. Sunshine or rain, this is an awesome race, can't wait for Sunday!

Ok how about this question:-

Your actual time. How is this calculated? Does your time start when you go over the start line and your chip goes bwheeeep .... or when the gun goes off?

If it does going over the start line I will wait 10 seconds after he has gone over and then just stick to his wheel forever.

Timing is from the gun so if you are at the back of the group , it can take 20 odd seconds maybe more to get going but time has started

Start next to you buddy and Loose him on fox hill !

Then you cruise / fly in with the deep sections
