Sani2C in reverse for 10th year celebration

Some guys on the ride yesterday suggested that Farmer Glen may be considering running a c2Sani next year as part of the 10 year celebrations. What do you guys think.

Yes, that would be cool as a once off

No, don't mess with a good thing.

I think that ending on the beach with a nice swim will beat ending in Underberg by a million miles!

I don't think it will be that much harder doing it backwards. Most of the climbing comes from up & down anyway.

Currently it is geared for riding down single track and climbing up jeep track coastwards. Farmer Glen will have to build lots of new single track to make the downhills fun if he wants to run it the other way or you'll climb up the great single track and ride down the boring jeep track most of the time.

You can't hide a 1500m plus drop in elevation.people might think that the hills are from up and down but the fact remains that there is a subtle altitude drop over the three days. I think it would be the stupidest idea in the world and you are basically nullifying the biggest attraction which is the well established single track down the umkomaas. It would cost Glen a huge packet of money to replicate that on the other side...sorry don't see it happening

here is a random idea: why don't they put some rocks back into the trail to make it rougher?

Anti-manicure? :D Give the locals pickaxes to "sweep" the trail with in stead of brooms? It'll just be like W2W then! ;)

Hey, that's just 1 extra easy days worth of climbing thrown in. Agreed, I suppose, if you knew how long I took to finish day 2  , that it is probably a dumb idea for us racing tortoises.

Does anyone still have their ride stats. Should be able to tell from total assent and descent stats for the three days what the climbing would be like in reverse. I hear what you saying regarding the jeep and single track, (good point) but the idea of something different for year 10 sounds cool. If not in reverse what do you guys think could be done to mix things up a little.

I think Farmer Glen looking for another opportunity to rake in a few more millions

In my opinion, for what he gives the mtb community, let him rake them in. Everyone else that does something well gets a financial reward. I am not saying he makes millions, but if he does good luck to him. And every other race organizer out there for that matter.

Good point. Just to clarify, this is just for discussion, it is in no way a given or in any way news from Sani organizers, just and idea that came up between a few guys on a ride.

They should make it a separate event. The weekend warriors still do the Sani2C, but if you want a bit more of a challenge you can race C2Sani.
