The "new" kyalami should not be .

I was there is 2002 when Bayliss did the double in front of Edwards on the Honda and Haga on the Aprilia. That was a good day out.

Laguna Seca is much shorter than Kyalami.

Ah. thanks. I always thought length was the reason they didn't race moto gp there.

Of course I googled it to check up on you and you're 100% right. Laguna 3.6km and Kyalami 4.2.

This makes me itch for a trackday!!!!

Now 4.5 or 4.6km. Cant remember.

I think run off may still be a problem with Kyalami though.

No they've actually spent quite a bit of time thinking about increasing the safety of the track. Massive gravel trap at the end of the front straight. Upgraded all the paint to FIM standard 'grippy' paint on the tar run-offs. Saw some photos in the week that I can't for the life of me find, but it is looking really good. That Crocodiles section is going to be seriously rapid.

I'm however not holding my breath about actually riding there. Trackday cost post-Porsche takeover, pre-renovation was something silly like R1700. I can't even imagine what it's gonna be now.

Ouch that's steep. But I suppose with Porsche as the owner and their target market, that's pennies.

We used to complain in PE when they had a trackday and expected us to pay R300 with no sessions, just 8hrs of uninterrupted track time. I would blast around for 2 hours, then shoot to the petrol station down the road for a refill and then back again. Repeat that 2 or 3 times for the day. Was properly buggered after that!!!!

Just a reminder of what a winning Ducati rider looks like, been so long people may have forgotten.........

attachicon.gif1382249_1068532596531194_4224560758233734370_n.jpg

Can't wait to hear the feedback on the bike once he has had a chance to wring it's neck.

"it's still ****. That's why I left"

Nah. The Duc has come a long, looooong way since Stoner left and Rossi et al took over. If you remember, it was only really good in the first season and a half that Stoner raced it. Then they started "playing" with it and screwed it up so badly that not even Rossi (one of the best technically advising racers around, look at how he and the mechanics turned Yam around) could fix it.

Exciting times though. i hope he comes back. If only to take MM out.

80 seconds was the fix time if I recall.......... Still waiting.

Yeah, Stoners results declined steadily from 2008 but he still won on it in 2010 with a few podiums even though it was pig of a bike which is more than can be said for all the others. He is also known to crash a lot as his philosophy is, and always has been, that a win is better than a championship. Look at his last lap crash at Sachsenring 2012 when taking the lead.

The sport would be better off with him coming back but I think the best we can hope for is a few wildcards. He would probably win PI, may even be accused of influencing a championship he isn't involved in while doing so. Who knows.

Exciting times!!!

It was never really good IMO. Stoner was/is just that good. Possibly the best rider ever. This from a Rossi fan. Also remember when Stoner was on it he was the only notable guy on bridgestones. When the rest of the grid switched the Ducati was shown up for what it was. Cr@p.

His biggest mistake is that he made that thing seem ride-able.

How many reputations and careers has that thing eaten? For me the obvious 2 are Rossi and Hayden.

With a push you can add Dovi, had big expectations and he has slid back badly. Without the concessions he wouldn't have done so well on the Duke initially.

Think I have said it before but Hayden and Guintoli said, looking at Stoners data, it would appear that he rides it as if he would never exit the bend, fully committed, yet he did. Most times.

LOL, then of course there's that Valencia race where he binned it on the warm-up lap. WTF!!!!

Drove past there today, massive land moving going on. Saw a few Porsche's doing laps, looked great through the first corner. Lots of speed and then up over the rise into the next left hander looked scary quick too.

Hayden pretty quick first official test out on the Honda.....

Really, finished 4th fastest perhaps but that is over a single lap where top guys like Rea weren't going for all out fast times.

Plus he is on a 5 or 6 years old bike.

Plus no Honda factory support although they are the unofficial factory Honda.

Plus they didn't get enough sponsorship to even attend the last testing for the season.

I'd be impressed if he cracks a top 8.

Feel sorry for him, just went from one pig dog of a bike to another. Also get the feeling the Duke will improve in MotoGP this year and he should've held on a bit longer.

What's interesting from those results are the two Yamahas. I don't ever read much into testing, but it's still interesting.

Also, I saw Haslam cruising around on a Kawasaki, turns out it was a BSB Team.
