I think you were looking at the prelim results that didn't have everyone uploaded. Marathon there was approx 53 DNF's 5 DQ's and 672 finished on the latest results (7.8% DNF's) then in the half there was approx 45 DNF's and 6 DQ's with 1037 finishers (4.33% DNF's)

I would say thats not a bad result considering how hard the Marathon track was.

I would bet it is still a higher than normal ratio.

I love technical riding but I did struggle the weekend. But I blame myself for that because I did not practice the type of riding we had over the weekend. If we have such routes we must train to ride them. We must keep on evolving our sport otherwise we will fall behind the European countries and our local riders won't be able to compete with their standard of riders. Isn't that one of the reasons one of our local pro's want to leave the country to further his career oversees? Organisers cater for those with less skill in the shorter distance, thus if you want to better yourself feel free to join the longer more technical marathon races.

Rooiberg 26 DNF's out of 352 finishers in the 70km (last race i did) which comes to 7.3% so pretty much the same. Remember DNF's are not just crashes, they are people being tired, mechanicals, sick (I spoke to one guy that had a stomach bug) and then crashes. It's those stats that would be the answer to closing this thread

Too true dipslick, like a stuck record here .... when you made your point, move on. Even if others won't/don't or cant grasp it.

Looking at the results of the marathon 650 finishers, about 220 DNF's, how does that compare to other events?

Anyone with stats on injuries? (besides broken egos)

Kos sorry to get involved here but I have been following this topic and to me it seems you the one going around in circles.

And I'm leaving now

THAT SOUNDS LIKE A VERY HIGH DNF RATIO!!!so sean since you part of the 430 riders that "can" ride you have to admit that does sound a bit high, i know pros fall clearly seen in 2 races this weekend but even a couple of the top riders said it was technically very challenging, in fact they said it was the toughest technical race of the series, so there clearly is a point to what people are saying

1000% agreed Dips... but funny I didnt hear one of them pros say take it out, make it easier or its too hard.

Will I pay R180 to race at Northern Farm.... Not as long as god has got sheep and the ANC steals my tax

Will I pay the same to race Van Gaalens... At the drop of a hat, YES!!

Essentially this roundabout boils down to saying theres something for everyone. If you dont like it, dont ride it.

I'll pay R250 to race the Vida Cup el' Spruit.

VG is too difficult for me. They must make the 70km easier.

Less climbing, keep it below 200m please. No rocks.

In fact, just district road will be nice. None of that mountain-biking stuff.
