Woohoo! Entered for my first Argus! Was supposed to do it earlier this year but it all went horribly wrong on a training ride in Jan. A titanium plate and 10 screws later and I'm back to give it another go:D

Was that on the black stuff or playing around in the dirt... ouch.

Edit: Fair dues for going with the weight weenie option of titanium, much better than carbon. ;)

From another titanium monkey, welcome back.

Now you have to put some titanium on your bike to create harmony between the 2 of you. Even just a bolt will do.

People will definitely be selling their entries nearer the time and if all else fails, sign up with a charity group such as Paige Project and although you will start in the charity start groups and not the seeded groups, at least you will be there.

If you take a substitution do you start in your seeding or at the back? My brother missed his entry.

My son and I will go for 4h45 in the Argus. We did the 44km Burger last year together in 2h02, so this year we will target the 92km and hope for a 4h10 - 4h20. All depending on the conditions on the day though.

And of course we will do lots of climbs to the Pump Station to get our legs sorted.

How old is your son?

I pulled mine to a 3:06 94.7 last year at age 13.

They are quicker than you think!

Grease,

Your chances are promoted with the speed of your starting bunch.

The higher you're seeded, the better your chances.

Up to a point. IMHO, your best chance is with a group where you have to work like hell to stay in the bunch but you are never dropped.

If you are seeded in a group you cannot stay with, you are stuffed...... Best in those circumstances to drop back a group at the start and ride in the bunch the whole way.
