Yesterday was a big ask for alot of guys (including myself).

Big thanks to a few groups.

My saddle came off at 50km so a big thank you to the guy who loant me his multitool!

Saddle finally fell off with 15km to go so had to stand for the finish.

Just made the cutoff in a very emotional state. Based on the occupancy of the van of shame, it broke many people I think.

Indeed a tough day on the bike...I sat in the K group with the Outriders until the waterpoint before the silos. It was a mistake to get some water it seems as I never recovered after that stop, stopped just before the N1 and sat for 10 minutes assessing my cycling aspirations...

Got back on the bike and I only managed 11km/h until the next water point on the other side of the N1...sat behind smaller groups as they passed but couldn't push myself anymore and fell off again everytime. At the end managed 6:41.

I think you should be proud that you had the determination to finish. it was tough out there yesterday and a lot of guys just gave up. So well done..

This was painful on a mtb . How many people started and did not finish . The sweeper car looked full all the time.

We saw a guy from e-f on a mtb alone up that hill in the middle. The marshal drove up to him and chatted to him for a minute or two. Think the marshal was questioning his sanity.

No, I think the race doctor wanted to use him for a science experiment! ;)

1100 people finished yesterday.

How many non-finishers do you think there were?

They said about 1800 people entered, but I know a few who didn't pitch up because of the wind on the day.

Remember this is a seeding event for the Argus. Even with the breeze I think it will up my seeding, especially if the give the ride a decent beta. Index could be below 10 with beta.

Seems my previous comment about how difficult it is to get a good seeding on a race like this was wrong.

I rode in one of the middle groups, stopped for water, stopped to help a DC team mate with a mechanical, finished somewhere in the middle of my starting group and it appears I will get a better seeding index than usual from this race. Made the suffering worth it!

Congrats to everyone.

I woke up to 'stomach issues' on Saturday (I knew something was up on the Friday already).

I still prepped and mounted my bike in the car the night before, in the hope on being better by then. But my body said otherwise.

:(

Again congrats and well done to everyone.

i see all the top finishers take part in the Lb Linea series where 160 k's in the wind is the norm.

big up to all the starters who got out of bed and hearing that wind, driving all the way out to the start knowing that it's goin to be a hard day in the saddle. well done all.

Sooo....I made it to the finish before the cut-off time on my (VERY) heavy 26er mountain bike. Was feeling great most of the way except when I managed to lose the group I was in on the stretch after Malmesbury, on the R304. Solo into the wind...but I made it anyway. If it was not for the 2 really awesome guys who took pity on me and cycled in front of me for about 40kms, I prob would not have made it. Awesome sportsmanship! Well done to everyone who finished in that weather!

PS: Not doing this on a mountain bike again!

I think this was you that I saw?
