You would think that it might have some sort of advantage in steeper downhill sections to have a bigger wheel upfront in terms of keeping the bike more level thus keeping body weight more central over the bb. But climbing...eish I think it would be a bit tricky.

I think the nail in the coffin would be having to carry 2 spare tubes.

umm, you don't just use the 26 tube.

Trust me it works, I've also used a 29er tube in a 26er before (packed the wrong tube  )

Unfortunately some people's OCD won't allow them to do that.

Not good enough. Need to eat your full face helmet.

Would something like this count?

Don't stress too much, I don't think it will stay in production for too long. Your hat eating will be over shortly (or I'll have to join you at the hat eating table)

Not with a review like that, anyway

but is anyone buying them ...

Don't think they're available locally, any case.

You can try this on your normal 29er/650b instead of buying a new bike...

Not the same as this will destroy the bike's geometry.

That must be the ugliest bike I have ever seen.... And not only coz it says silverback on it.

The chainring makes it look a bit strange

If you put a 160mm 650B fork on there, it wouldn't change the geometry at all.

So you could do it the other way round too.

My boss has a Santa Cruz with a 27.5" at the back and 29" up front...

Rides fine. I just think as a hard tail it won't feature too high on the priority list, but time will tell
