My Pioneer partner Broke his leaft hand and broke a finger on his left going over that log just after the road crossing. The part has been fixed now but the rest has been pretty eroded. Not sure im not an expert but I think with the exotic vegetation extreme erosion will likely continue.

That is Boomslang over the road.

The log drop at the entrance has been getting a hell of a lot of traffic and winter has for sure taken its toll on it.

Hi Hubbers,

We are aware that the snake trails are in need of maintenance and we have plans to work on all the XC trails ASAP. Our regular volunteer build days aren't quite enough to maintain the whole of the network in Tokai so we have a few plans in the pipeline to address that issue. Hoping that we can make a few public announcements in the next few weeks that will make all Tokai riders happy.

I'm hoping part of that announcement is that Cape Nature's being held over a barrel until they do their long overdue burn. No point cutting down the pines (which actually served a few purposes) only to let the Port Jacksons and black wattles take over.

I know this isn't your guys' responsibility, but you've got a far closer working relationship with the powers that be than most, so could possibly gently suggest to them that they seem to be making a pig's ear of their supposed war on alien vegetation...

But ranting aside, had a pretty good session there yesterday. There's definitely been a huge improvement since you guys took over.

Have you folk noticed the signage making it's way back onto the mountain of late? I was up there yesterday and I noticed a good few new signs in the ground.

Yes come to think of it I have noticed quite a few, but in all honesty I havent taken much notice of them, they are too small, and would require me to ride right up them to see as I wear spectacles.

However it is great makes it easier for everyone

That log hasn't been fixed as such, we just placed a couple branches above and below it while riding on Friday, just so it was rideable temporarily. Need some spades and soil to make it last.

That log is a bit sketchy. It's the only thing in Tokai that I'd rather walk over than ride over, even with the newly added branches and stumps to make it more passable.

I've been thinking recently that all of the snakes are not in great condition and in need of some TLC, but over the weekend they felt great for some reason. Maybe it was just a dialed in day.

That log is more a mental block. If you have done it once it won't be a problem again. With the new sticks in place you can basically ride over it with a bit of momentum.

Agreed... I did both this past Sunday by just rolling over it all then second attempt I cleared the other side by jumping it  do what feels comfortable to you and if you not sure take it easy on the first attempt as there is always time for another attempt. Well that is just my method haha!

The log! My beloved little bastard. On the first pass on my last ride it was hop, drop and smile. On round two I was a tad too slow and over the bars I went in a cloud of dust... it was funny actually to see the rider chasing me hit the brakes to dismount and walk... :-)

I've gone ass over end over that log before, so I'm a bit hesitant to try and launch it.

Slow down, unclip one foot, edge over and go. A few seconds lost, but I'm not racing anyone.

I've gone over it with no problems in the past, maybe it's just a mental block.
