Iwan Kemp Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 For those interested in a demo, I noticed this on Facebook.
Slowbee Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 oh stop it you ..... you just want a third force salary for Christmas ... oh yes, by the way, I need some arizone grips like you/we/I had on the Racer X. They need replacing. Maybe you have alternatives ?
gummibear Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 For all you VIPA fans, here's is Victor himself at a local race in P.E yesterday on his VIPA. Great to see Victor back on a bike again. He fell his leg in it's moer a few years back.

Iwan Kemp Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Hmmm...personal preference. Have since changed to ODI Rogue grips. 1. They are readily available2. They have a bit more squish without being soft3. Extra rubber makes for a grip that is identical in diameter to GripShifts. Nice and tidy. Have you spend time on a 29er? Why not take my Vipa for a week or three, ride it like you stole it and while you're doing that I'll be over here going through your stuff see / feel if the grips work for you.
davetapson Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Mr Crow I see you reckon that the Vipa falls in the top 3 of it's kind. Can you compare it to a Pyga oneten29, or is it just a different beast completely..?
Iwan Kemp Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 From the off the Pyga is definitely more trail focused. The way I have the Vipa build and set up it is more than trail capable and have a bit of fun dialled in, but not to the point where I would say it's a trail 29er. 80mm is still only 80mm. Vipa ProsIt is a lighter by a fair margin (almost 1kg in the frame!) which helps when doing longer rides and tougher climbs.Stealth Dropper Post routingMore capable than it's 80mm would suggestI remember the Pyga to be a little slower on turn in than the Vipa. Could be HA or the aid of the 51mm off set fork I have on the Vipa. But then again I have a longer fork on the Vipa than was intended so has be down to overall handling of the bike.One10 ProsSlacker HA makes for a more confidence inspiring bike on the downsSolid frame will last longer if you're riding aggressive trails weekend after weekend and do lots of drops and jumpsExtra weight bossts confidence in heavy, bigger terrainReally enjoyed the Pyga when I rode it. If you're planning on heavier trails it would be the wiser choice. Maybe also if it's your only bike and, again, you're planning some big riding. For me the Vipa makes more sense cause I have a HDR as well which means there's less of an overlap between the two bikes, but I still have a 29er that is every bit as fun when riding single track. Aren't you the proud owner of a HD?
