Unlike MTB, they aren't limited the same frame for the duration of the Tour.

These will be special bikes for the stage.

Also, flat stages and mountain stages will have different frames and setups.

So basically the mechanics can prep before the time.

The nightmare is on the stage where they can't get to a rider becuase of the narrow roads and gaps between riders.

Didn't realize that. I thought they just had the one plus a TT bike.

Tell you what. . Beefy bert is gonna entertain us in the mountains. . He will attack and go for it.

I might eat humble pie Gen but beefy Bert looked like a beaten man, and what is more he was isolated on crucial times today. Saxo didn't look like the yellow jersey team today. On the other hand Astana was brilliant in how they planned and executed a plan on a very difficult day.

Some of the Paris Roubaix contenders, previous winners and those that had a good ride in recent times, taking part in the Tour

Cancellara

van Summeren

Vanmarcke

Boom

van Avermaet

Terpstra

Sagan

Kristoff

edit: correct grammar/spelling

Cancellara - free to race

van Summeren - protecting Talansky

Vanmarcke - protecting Mollema

Boom - protecting Mollema

van Avermaet - protecting van Garderen

Terpstra - protecting Kwiatkowsi

Sagan - free to race

Kristoff - free to race

Expected these guys to be there, but not Nibali - what a ride

I'm completely gutted.

We saw Chris training in the Cradle over Christmas a few times and he was so focused on this race.

That's the problem right there.

Instead of coming here to train on our nice warm dry roads, he should have stayed in pomland through winter and learnt how to handle a bike in the wet and cold.

I saw that on stage 2 already. Saxo was dropping teammates early already. I dont think Contador has a strong enough team here. Even in the races building up (Dauphine case in point), Contador was alone everytime at crucial points. Not good

It's possible. . Time will tell, but would love to see him put up one hell of a fight.

Contador was alone at the Dauphine on purpose. He rode with a B team while the A team trained elsewhere. That was always the Astana plan for the Dauphine.

Well I can tell you my friend can tank me nicely after I told him he has to go watch .. standing in the rain was worth it because he met and had a chat with Greg Lemond.. his hero..

This is the message I just got...

Amazing.... I don't know what came over me. Saw him giving a tv interview on opposite side of rd. I tried getting across rd but obv all the marshals pood thier pants! When 'interview finished.... for no reason I just shouted out, Greg I can't get to u for a photo... I want one with u! All of a sudden, he pushed his kronnies aside, jumped the barrier, held out his hand and stopped the traffic.... Then calmly walked over to me!!!!!! I was so shocked! In 10 sec there 50 people around us all shouting his name and asking for a photo! He calmly just started talking to me. Asking me questions.... Amazing... We had a 5 min chat..,,, then he just said: ummm u wanted a photo? He took my phone outa my hand, shoved it onto to strangers hands and said: allé, take photos, when done he was forced to have one more photo from guy who took mine.... Then walked away to a million flashes and screams! .,,,.He came to me to chat!

Wow! Was so happy to hear that I've been watching since the 80's and he is my hero.... And we need and so happy to have him back at the Tour.... So chuffed!
