This is just not on, you do NOT take a man's Dale -end of story!! - I feel for you bud.

m2m2, I realise you are a little traumatized right now, but do you have any additional info you could share?

Through what medium(s) were you advertising this bike?

Any relevant info about the fake buyer

Where did this happen?

etc.

It'll be interesting and valuable to hear how the scam worked as it can inform any other folks out there.

Sorrie, man.

Hope you have insurance.

In Pretoria, but who knows, the guy could be from Joburg

I had it advertised on The Hub, Junk Mail and OLX.

No additional info that could help the case.

The story is almost exactly as the article states (which I only found after).

I released the bike because the funds had reflected in my account.

Bad luck there, commiserations.

Was it a stolen chq?

Yes both stolen cheques, the first and second (accidental deposit !!!)

I suspect he contacted me from Junk Mail.

Sjoe, you must be gutted; i feel for you.

It emphasises that we just cannot be too careful when transacting. The bad news is that no insurer will pay out for losses of this nature, which arise out of fraud not theft.

Maybe take pics of the bike to all the lbs's in your area, and ask them to keep a lookout.
