Ha that's impressive

In a few years XCO could be like 4X, 4 riders per race, full face helmets...and 5 laps that will take 7.5 minutes to complete.

It would make it a lot more exciting to watch. :whistling:

Well they already have brought in the XC eliminator to replace 4X

Since when is XCO mass participation?

Compared to downhill, 4X, BMX etc XCO is mass participation and you might think the field thins out but that's not exactly true everywhere.

XCO - plenty of riders wearing little protection and riding on the max for at least 90 minutes non stop

Point being, there's a place and time for everything and I'm all for technical challenging and exciting courses in XCO BUT don't think XCO type racing should be confused with 4X or downhill

Lucky I dont have that problem with my DH course ... try as i may ... it will never be difficult enough! hahaha

How many truck loads of sand will you need to build a downhill this steep?

Maybe if each rider brought a bucket or bakkie load of sand each time they rode your course.....instead of paying to ride...

We'd need some sort of geological catastrophe to get a track as steep as Champery. That track is insanely steep. So steep that a lot of the track has stairs cut into the embankment to allow spectator access. It was a huge eye opener to roll down survive that track. I still have no idea how these guys n gals race that track.

You rode the downhill....

I've struggled to walk it a few times over the last few years, always try make it for the world cups and world champs events there

I survived the DH track... If we never had Tiaan Odendaal (he had raced it the year before, in 2011 in the Jnr World Champs category, if I'm not mistaken) with us showing us lines (and that it was actually possible) I would have been highly skeptical. My bike saved me a couple times on the way down that track.

Anyways back to the topic.

Make XCO like old school 4X :P

I know about the different formats thanks.

Agreed on them not going too far with the technical stuff, but this is a World Cup event. Would venture though that the course is on the limit for sure.

Nige, you sell yourself short with regard the PMB track, which other track builder has been able to say, he built a track where the home grown local hero won the world champs? and Floros was to robbed of a local boy winning the WC XC cos some irresponsible driver caused his untimely passing.
