Last year this time, I had been cycling for two months after a long cycling hiatus. I set myself a goal to do one race every month this year. Happy to say I accomplished that and did 14 races in all, (including bucket list Karoo to Coast and Trans Baviaans).

Next year, my goals are:

  • Attakwas,
  • 36One,
  • Trans Baviaans,
  • complete as many BigYear courses in my area as I can,
  • getting my wife on her bike again,
  • riding more with my kids and removing the training wheels from my son's bike,
  • learn to do more bike maintenance myself.

inspire others to try a ride/race they never would normally consider doing as they might see it as t hard or to far or to difficult. TransKaroo and the TransB being part of this

This made me go and have a look. According to my Garmin report, I’ve spent a total 382 hours (and some change) training this year. That’s a total of 16 days. As a percentage, I’ve spent 4% of this year on my bike. About 40% of that was on the indoor trainer so at least I was at home for those hours.

An average of 7 hours/night sleep works out to 30% and a 9 hour workday = 38%. That brings me to 72% (all of the above).

The rest of the 28% must all have been spent between the missus, social, doing what you have to do, (getting ready for work, getting ready to train) etc etc. That ain’t to bad right. :whistling:

I only spend 256 hours according to my polar must get in some more saddle time
