no insults to the guys who work hard on securing land for us to ride on, but I've ridden Majik once and we really didnt enjoy it. I would rather suggest going to Meerendal, its better marked (so you dont have to keep stopping and asking people where to go) much more beautiful and more fun.

Majik is so small, you can't really get that lost....

If you are new to the game, then rather sharpen your skill set at Meerendal first.

+1 If someone would ask me what's a nice place for beginners to start out at - Majik Forest is not a place that comes to mind. Lots of climbing and fast & bumpy downhills, I would say more suited to the fitter and "slightly past beginner stage" mtb'ers

we also riding tomorrow at Meerendal few guys meeting us there at 7 in front of the dehli

one of the guys also a new to the sport and we taking him up

you more than welcome to join us and you can skip the dorsberg part

you have to pay R30 because you're not a member thou but Meerendal not as technical as majic

Rather do Meerendal first... Majik is fun but might get a bit hairy for a complete noob on some sections, with a bit of skill you can nail the awesome section in the forest.

I don't about hair, but I sure have left some skin at Majik over the years

and some broken bones. But in the days before meerendal, how many of us got hooked onto mountain biking after descending through majik forest!

was just about to add: if someone didn't find it exciting, they weren't going fast enough. Majik is not The Greatest set of trails, but it's sufficient and at the right alles, it will get your heart pumping and lips smiling.

Agreed, that last section through the actual forest at speed is something special

Hi, doing my first mtb ride this weekend.. I've been told Majik forest is a good place to start so I plan on trying it out this weekend.. Do i need to be a member or can I buy a day pass of some sorts?

ok so what is the verdict? where did you go and how much fun did you have?

So I ended up at Tokai. I am from the south so this is probably where I will be doing most of my rides. I had a friend who has been in the sport for about 4 years show me the ropes.

We started from the car park and went up along the jeep track to Silvermine's boom gate where we turned around and did some single track on the way down. I have never concentrated so hard on a descend, the "fast" descend on the jeep track and the technicalities of the single track really got the adrenalin pumping. I did have 2 "oopsies" though. Went over the bars once but nothing serious at all, the fall damaged nothing but my ego. Then somewhere in Faerie garden just before the bridge I went down again because the bike stalled and I couldn't uncleat in time  So the ego was damaged a little more and I left some skin behind.

All in all it was an awesome day out, very exhilarating, I feel like I am learning to ride a bike again. The forest at sunrise is an absolutely amazing place to be. I cant wait to do it again!!!
