Seems like the majority of the people say it is a waste. I have to say when you see some of the DH runs on go pro when they are in the shade you can not make out is they are on the rocks, in the trees it is just very dark. Saw some footage from PMB.

It is indicative to cycling or any outdoor activity. If you have a poll on how many cyclists that entered for the Argus cycled more than twice a week I suspect that you will get between 20% and 30% responding in the affirmative. Same with kite surfing, paddle boarding or any other outdoor activity. Some are prone to buy toys and let it gather dust while others get full value.

Every time I pass Cape Union Mart I stare for 10 minutes at the Go Pro video in the store. Every time I am keen to buy one, but then I look at the price, I look down slowly and turn around and walk away. I want to know if it is worth to buy and mount it to your bike?

Had a Go-Pro now for almost 2 years - only used it about 5 times when I got it - doubt if I will use it again

So in answer to your question - NO it's not worth it - just continue to marvel at the big screen shots at the stores selling them

Just used my GoPro Hero 2 today on the trails, chilling after the ride and watching the awesome single track sections... don't think I even realize until I watch them just how much it makes me want to go out and ride tomorrow  love it haha!

I guess you will get a bunch of opinions. I love my Gopro 3 black. I always take it with me when I get on my bike because you never know what you can catch. Having the record video and take pictures at the same time makes is great. Having a look at a ride when I am done always makes me want to get out there and do it again! You must remember that it is what you make of it, for me putting my gopro on is like clipping my garmin on.

I was thinking of getting one for safety - for instance a motorist behaving badly etc. Do you think its worth to get one for that function, record over every rides footage and only edit it when you need to?

I got a smaller one that clips over your ear for that purpose: a looxcie. But what I have found is that everytime I wear it and have it on, people drive nicely. My intention was to put clips of the madness up on YouTube, but lately due to having lost count of the Near Death Encounters I have had on my bike on the road here, I feel much safer in a metal cage, especially one with a bull bar., and don't commute on my bike that often.

I had 3 last week.....feeling a bit shell shocked and actually damn scared to go out currently. You get really scared when they come fast and really close

I put all my DriftHD stuff

together for a pic, placed it in the classifieds yesterday. Thought I better see that there aren't any of my own vids still on the memory card but low and behold it didn't want to switch on! Works well when plugged into a USB port but seems the battery has decided to retire ... Just an indication of how seldom I used it :-(

A lot of people here say they don't use their GoPros anymore so… if you're looking to offload them, put them up here for a sweet price. You can get two new sets of tyres for the piece of equipment lying in your cupboard rapidly getting multiple generations older. Just saying.

Had GoPros for a while now and enjoy trying new mounts and angles.....it does become a bit tedious if you don't experiment....I ride with one most times and have lots of footage that's the same but every now and then, you get a gem!! And that's why I still use one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JCXk2qkRJI&feature=youtu.be

Off topic: Full face, gloves and elbow pads all worked as advertised! Next purchase: Shoulder pads!

One of the funnest runs in SA (in my opinion) shared via GoPro:

Please stop it now!

We got a handful of runs two weeks ago but it wasn't enough. Just love it!!
