Go single speed in front ie 1x10 , lose one chainring , front derailer , cable and shifter

Side effect of this is you become stronger hence faster... No bailout gear is no bailout.

How many vegans do you see with loads of energy?

.. not many!

Eat tasty food, to get stronger and your bike will feel lighter!

yasssis, that's cruel to post that. Mouth's watering now too.

These are also nice, couldn't stop munching them yesterday:

hahaha....

I love the hub... always fun to read the ports for sure!!!

All points noted and taken...

Working on the weight loss bit for me...

Like I said I have a limited budget and cant go willy nilly, have to save up long and hard to make changes and want to make the right changes...

Will get bike on a scale and see what weight is now and compare, then take from there.....

Its not a C*@$ swinging exercise at all.

I do think perhaps there is a lot of Stans in the wheels, my LBS did it for me on the first service.

Otherwise using the Specialized S-Works Fast Trak tires which are already light enough..

I think first thing would be upgrading the wheels to something a touch lighter but still strong...

I do agree that I dont need the LIGHTEST bike in the world, however same as surfing a light board turns much easier and performs better than surfing a very thick chunky board... lighter one breaks a lot easier as well so you need to mix and match to get what you can afford...

Thanks for the input though, keep it coming..

that is not a bad thing, and if your mech put in double(120ml) the amount they suggest(60ml) you owe him a beer. The worst is an extra 130g or so...but well worth it when you get punctures.

P.S.

I am very keen on a 1X system... just need to find the 13-15k for the upgrade of the groupset...

I'll sell you a 1x chainring and clutch derailleur for half of what you mention. Just cos I am a nice guy.....

I'll even install it for you.

All you need is that General Lee cluster conversion at the back if you need a granny... Then Narrow-Wide Chainring, 36 would do.... Bam 1X10 conversion for R2000, and drop almost 500g just there.

Carbon crank R5000 Thus dropping another 100-200g

Or wait for it...wait for it....a brand new zee crank and rear dr does the job perfect...or a non-ramp blade on XT crank with zee dr...works like a charm.

hehehe...

here is the thing though, if 1x10 doesn't work, 1x11 won't help me either....you get all the weight saving and "unclutteredness" for a fraction. The extra gear does give you a wider ratio range sure, not just an extra gear, but at that price....aikona.
