I'm looking for a set of 650B wheels to use as race wheels. Preferably under R10K. Any ideas or suggestions? Would like to get them before the weekend if possible.

I still have AC Race front wheel. Rear wheel has number of cracks along spoke holes. Its 29 wheels, maybe 650b is stronger cause they're smaller but the 29R Race wheels are not strong enough.

I laced some WTB i23 rims onto some WTB hubs. They are amazing and the wide inner bead width makes the tire volume epic and reduces the risk of any untoward bead failures without sacrificing too much weight. The tire and spoke choice will be your real kicker.

Proper spoke choice ie: 2mm - 1.65mm - 2mm dbl butted race spokes make a huge difference in performance and feel and weight over other straight gauge cousins.

The tires will also add a big chunk of weight/rolling resistance/feel/performance.... Most of the mid range wheelsets in that price range have very little between them but the longevity and ease of maintenance differs hugely.

Easton and Mavic feel awesome but they seem to get damaged and need love a lot more frequently than other similarly priced wheelsets.

Good luck! Bit of a rush to be looking for an expensive wheelset though. I spend AAAGES deliberating which hubs on which hoops with which spokes before I build!

Sounds nice! Wheel size, weight and price?

With a 10k budget, you could pretty much build/get anything, except carbon ;) Nice problem to have 10k :D

I still love the Hope/Crest combo but rim choice depends on your weight.

Most aftermarket wheels, Easton, Mavic, AC will fall into 10k.

Thanks for the advice. Just an update. I went with a stans/ ztr crest set. Saved about 300g per wheel (although 100g was on the 100ml less of stans). Looking forward to giving them a test run tomorrow morning. A rather expensive exercise once you cassette tires and disks to the mix.
