Anyone had a problem with uploading data from a Garmin Edge recently?

I have tried the automatic upload as well as the manual upload and it just goes into a continuous spinning upload cycle and nothing gets uploaded.

I have looked up on the Garmin site and it looks like it is a general problem overseas but cannot see any Saffers having the same problem.

If you have had this problem, did you manage to correct it and if so how please?

To add - I used the Garmin on my Saturday ride and uploaded that data with no problems.

Make sure there is nothing else plugged in to your computer at the same time, I once had my phone connected to the computer to sync data and when was trying to upload the garmin data, it got stuck trying to read the phone rather than the garmin. I unplugged the phone and tried again and worked straight away

Yeah I've experienced this before, but otherwise I uploaded from my Garmin this morning without any issues.

Garmin straight to Strava, it just "spins". (this has been happening for the last three weeks)

Garmin to Garmin Connect, downloads immediately.

When uploading to Strava, I must upload the Garmin file.

I started having huge issues uploading from Garmin direct to strava a month or 2 back. I re-installed garmin connect Communicator etc etc but still no joy. Eventually tried uploading via google chrome instead of internet explorer and that sorted me - no more issues...

Do u erase all your old files off your Garmin every so often. Once you've uploaded to Strava and Garmin Connect...? It takes Strava a while to go thru all the files on your device and identify new ones. The less u have on your Garmin the quicker I find it loads.

what also helps is using smart recording - the files are MUCH smaller = much faster downloads - and can't say I have noticed missing chunks of data since making the change.

Yup, sometimes there is one corrupt file that causes havoc.

Delete regularly and uploading is faster on all other sites and programmes.

Off topic, but Garmin related, I find that I'm losing coverage with my Edge 500. When comparing my distance with friends, I'm short every time. This is in Tokai. Anybody else having a similar issue?
