Route video: http://garyvdm.co.za/routes/94.7/

I was hoping to create a video with my own footage, which would have resulted in a much better quality video.  But it requires a bit more development, time is running out, and work and training are more important. So this street view version will have to do for now.

It unfortunately is missing the section through Steyn city. No street view here, and they would not let me video there anyway.

Dude ... we value your time and efforts, its almost reflex to say : " Hey Gary! Where's the flyby?"

Kudo's and thanks

Great vid.

I didn't recognise any of it. I'm sure I'll be going uphill thinking "this bloody hill was nowhere near this steep last time..."

WOW Thanks for the video.  Your profile looks much more manageable than the compacted one. My nerves have calmed down just a little.

Please don't be fooled by that. It looks flat because the scale of the y axis has been reduced so that it can fit in to the available space. If you ever want to compare profiles, you have to make sure that the scale of the x and y axis are the same between the profiles.

I know, but I am trying to calm the nerves. It's a mind game

I have a seeding index of 29 ... does that qualify for A bunch. Damn I am taking strain there (realistically I am not copying). Are the rest of you really that much stronger than me or do I belong further down in C or D ?

Hi Guys and Gals, I will be making some disks that you can tie on your spokes to give your sponsors some exposure, I will get prices today and let you know, if anyone might be interested. I have collected 7400 for my charity and companies that donated deserves the exposure.

IMHO you need about a 15 to hang on and closer to an 8 to compete in the top 15. Mine is 8 and I am still struggling, 10/15 races this year i've finished in the top ten, best place is 4th.

Thats exactly My point, I end up hitting a wall after the first 20kms since i am way out of my comfort zone(Then limp to the finish) .. Last 4 races all A bunch , i barely hit 3hrs at meals on wheels last week(grrrr). i think i should manually demote myself (lol). Thanks, I was just wondering>

I have an index of 25 and got a B group start time. I been rode C group on sat at jacaranda and it was the right choice. bettered my time by 21mins from last year. Some days you just have to drop a group or 2 down to have a better race. Nothing degrading about dropping down a group or 2. I will be dropping to D at 94.7 to at least save the legs and have a decent race. And improve on my time from last year.

Terrain map - looks like they've graded the short climb at the Wilds as rolling - good news for the faster guys and not so good for the beginners.

Funny how the start and the finnish is on a climp...does that mean between the finish venue and start venue one can host a downhill event?

Urgh...I am going to die on that malibongwe climb. Those looong inclines just aint for my body.

I am in J and hoping for a sub 3. Got a mate a bit stronger than me starting in J too. Maybe we can get a group working nicely.

Should be technical enough for most.

It can be done with a road bike .

Hahahahaha! for sure!

(Talk about something to do on a road bike...I am considering doing that 'gym gap jump' on my road bike soonish after 94.7. I dont know if I must be more concerned about the carbon frame or the wheels. I actually think I might need wider wheels/tyres so it doesnt dig into the dirt when landing, or I can put a carpet over there.)
