Garfield, thank you! It really is a terrible illness and I'm trying to do what I can to help his parents make Riley's life as comfortable as possible.

Do you know how to move this thread over to the general forum? Might get more of a response there?

Going to change the heading now, good idea!

I have a friend who's son has a very similar condition to this. He's now 11 and the medical bills don't get any less and life doesn't get any easier.

I'm in for R2/km. I'll send the money now.

Hat's off to the family, it's an exceptionally tough illness to deal with and the child requires pretty much 24 hour attention.

EDIT: R500 transferred from Nedbank - should reflect immediately. Been studying since 4am had a brain fart trying to figure out R226 x 2

Reference used was "Jigghead for Riley"

Go get 'em, please keep us posted your progress.

I am in but will donate R1 for every minute I race on the day.

Will see if I can get other people to commit something per minute also and see what I can come up with.

See you on race day...

The chair is a very specialized chair from Germany.

It will cost R40 000, this is due to all the additional supports that have to be added to support Riley. He has virtually no muscle function so the chair will enable him to sit up by providing his trunk with full support. Without the specialized trunk support that this chair provides, he will never be able to sit up because his diaphragm doesn't function so he can't breath sitting up without this support.

His mind functions perfectly so him being able to sit up will hugely improve his quality of life.

Thanks for all the support so far!

Will get an update of where we standing from his parents and post it shortly.
