Hike/run/crawl up a mountain, take the gondola down, hike up, gondola down.. etc etc, until you make the ascent of Everest!

Looks super cool

Where did I hear about this recently? Rich Roll podcast, I think.

Sounds like quite the experience.

Skyrun people - how do you get back to Lady Grey after getting to the finish? Is there a shuttle or something?

Edit: or is it the other way round - is there a shuttle to the start at Lady Grey from Wartrail?

Does anybody know of any trail runs in the Cape Town or West Coast or Winelands areas between 30 December and 10 January? I have not been able to find any events during this time when I will be there on holiday.

Best bet is to check Dirtopia site and RuntheVines, though I think it's a bit early for RtV to do something.

Also check EntryNinja. But that's a very quiet time of year ito races. I think even Bay 2 Bay is later this year.

Trail runners I need some advice on routes please (Western Cape). Looking for any routes max length around 1:45min (rest week for me after marathon on Sat so I don't want anything super long)

Staying in Franschhoek on Wed and Thursday night so looking for a least one route. Was thinking Mont Rochelle reserve but don't know anymore than that. What do you recommend?

Then staying near Zorgvliet in Stellies on Friday night so looking for a run either on Friday afternoon or Sat morning.

I'm clueless so looking for any help / direction.....

We're going down there soon too so I've also been looking around.

Jonkershoek - I've run there before and its really great, but it was a long run so maybe find a map or something for shorter routes.

Helderberg Nature Reserve - I came across while searching. looks nice, plenty paths so you could tailor it any way.

I'm going to look up Mt Rochelle now, thanks

Cool thanks.

As I understand it Mont Rochelle is basically the reserve/area beyond Franschhoek, around the pass. I've seen trails off to the side when riding a road bike up the pass...just need to find best way onto the mountain. Google map time.

This is my problem with trail running and my lack of experience. Panorama circuit at Jonkershoek looks awesome but at 14-17km I have no idea how long that will take.

On the road its so easy to estimate ETA. I guess thats the beauty of trail running though.

There are plenty of routes up the perdeberg and the Mont rochelle.

Check out the Maxi Race route and the old Trail du Mont Rochelle routes. One easy access is off the pass straight up. The trails/paths are easy to follow and you can always just aim back to Franschoek by site if you get lost.
