Seeing we have a two horse race going head to head again for the spoils, and make no mistake those two are both deserving of a win. Admin has done good on their promise to make voting more robust. But here is a suggestion to adress the 'friends' issue. Is it possible for admin to open voting to a random selection of Hubbers? By sending an invite to say a 1000 members to cast votes? That way you get a fair representation of what Hubbers like and you then can also nullify the issue of getting your mates to vote. Just a suggestion.

I think the process will be quite well refined by the time the 12th GoPro is won. I didn't feel bad emailing all my mates to vote for a handful of friends as I figured the intent was to promote The Hub but they all came back to me saying they had been blocked from voting. The Hub has a couple dozen new members, though and maybe some of them will stay.

the thread is for the best pic, not the best pic of 1000 hubbers, if u check on average there is a daily "active members" around the 700 mark, this is a cycling community FRIENDS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MADE thats the point

I get your point and I agree, but so far 112 members voted. That is 2,8% of all 3987 registered Hubbers. Such a small sample size, at some point some members vote for mates when asked. Just saying.

Rather than best pic, it's more a pick who you want to win the go pro.

I'm assuming once a person has won one they can't enter again?

I'm no photo expert but I've cast my vote according to what I think is the best pic in terms of composition; lighting & colour, mood and originality of point of view - hope they win something eventually.

Once you have won you can enter again and can have another Photo of the Day, but you won't be eligible to win another GoPro.

Due to some suspect voting activities with the last round we've disallowed any members who register during the voting process to cast a vote. The intent of opening the vote to the community is to get a balanced vote from regular Hubbers rather than a last minute dash of sign ups purely to vote for friends.

Perhaps you should look at getting a panel of judges to vote for photos. More fair and unbiased system.

Absolutely.

I wouldn't feel great about winning if I knew my pic was not close to being the best (based on the criteria you've listed), but I have the most buddies and they all voted for me.
