Is it just me, or does this year's routes look more easy than the previous 2 years?

Just you. Prologue was a lot easier than last year but you total distance and climbing for the whole race is more than the previous 2 years.

Here's another one:

Is it just me or was the TV coverage of today's prologue the most underwhelming thus far? (Please don't reply with "I was there and it was great...that's not TV)

I will never know. PVR'd it to watch later as I was at lectures all morning (yes, on a Sunday). My wife decided to watch something on Catchup and stopped my recording. A new prologue venue adds a huge unknown, for both riders, logistics and broadcasting. Sounds like it was not all that exciting.

Sauser not able to hold Kulhavy up deer park climb and dead man tree climb

I think nobody will be able hold on to that wheel. Kulhavy is beastly strong, never thought I would see someone push Sauser up a hill like today.

Sauser's age maybe starting to show? However, he's not the best over short distances - you can't really judge his from over 20km.

The commentator mentioned something today that Sauser might retire later this year? Not sure if this is true.

Yip.. I read it somewhere too.

It doesn't matter how strong one rider is.. the team is only as good as it's weakest rider. . But it was only the prologue, still lots of kilos to go for all the teams..

It's true, this will be his last epic as a pro

Yip. He's an ultra-endurance machine, not a XCO red zone specialist.

Did well though considering he struggled with pacing with Cool Harvey

Turning 39 this year

What a bike rider!

Yes, you can't compare a long distance specialist's performance with XCO specialist over a 20km race.  Sauser usually only starts pushing the pace on the 2nd or 3rd day.
