Are the speeds listed on the leaderboard average or maximum?

Are most of the riders going clipped in or flats?

There's one speed trap on the course, just before the tables.

There we go nige... sums it up nicely..lets hope we can keep it from 2015 and 2016

http://ep3.pinkbike.org/p1pb6168857/p1pb6168857.jpg This track was the ultimate season opener. If you weren't fit, it had moments of hard pedalling that would crush your lungs. If weren't strong, it had moments of speed that would blast your hands from the bars. And it had technical sections even the top riders had not mastered by final practice. There are few courses that pose such a range of super-human challenges.

apparently not....but I heard rumours of a till 2017 contract. They are trying to at least keep the xc here till 2017...but are unsure of they can only have one discipline...hence they may (glimmer of hope) keep the dh going.

What? Why?

I heard around (dont know if this is true) but a course gets a five year contract...dont know how this works.

So we had 2009 (Cup), 2011 (Cup), 2012 (Cup), 2013 (Champs) and 2014 (Cup).

ja - I was eavesdropping a conversation that Mike Bradley was having with someone and it looks like this is the last year for DH...but they are pushing to hopefully get the xc for the next 2 years...BUT, it may not be feasible to only have the XC so they will wither extend it for another two years - or there will be only xc..or there will be nothing

on the plus - what he was saying is that because of all the World champs etc that Pmb has hosted (bmx, master, masters road, mtb) they see Pmb and cascades park as the focus point for cycling in Africa, so they will be backing pmb big time....lets hope

it does not help that the event was SO poorly advertised, prices were too high and crowds were small...but we can't do anything about that now

The crowds were not great, I kept on wondering if it really was a DH World Cup event, all the big names were there but there was min people cheering them on, blind!

Was there stuff to pull the oke's in like beer tents and music etc?

Apart from the real fans, the general public just wants to come for the spectacle and the jol, if there's not much jol then the hoards don't really rock up.

They should look at Belgian Cyclocross events, always a few big (beer) tents with pumping music of all kinds (ompah, techno, etc) - well, at least they have decent beer there, sorry Castle on tap is ... horrible to be polite.

tried to buy beer on the sat and the sun...nothing to be found..unless I was blind

It really is a pity...but this was very poorly organised this year. No visible place to get beer, not heaps of food, no food or drink further up the course. There was opportunity to sell wors rolls/drinks up the dh course, or at key points in the xc

add to that poor advertising, and a lazy population in natal and you have poor crowds and a badly organised event
