After a few months, what is the report back from users of the SWAT kit? Will other manufacturers follow? Is it possible to add SWAT kit to seatpost? Have only seen the system once, quick measurement about 38cm with bottle included,so probably will only fit xl bikes on seatpost. What do you guys think or am I crazy. I now saddle bags does the same, just like the look of being part of the bike.

SWAT kit on the Spez includes the chain breaker/quick link in the headset, the multitool under the top tube and the twin bottle cage & 'tool box' on the frame. The tool box is attached to the bottom of the bottle cage and holds a tube, bomb & valve and a single tyre lever. I understand from the Spez chaps that the chain breaker can fit other bikes. I suppose fitting the tool box will depend on the space available on the frame but don't see it fitting on the seat post as you suggested. The concept is brilliant and works extremely well on the new Epic bikes. Best advantage is you don't have to carry much in your pockets and don't have to put a 2nd cage on the seat post

My favourite has to be the two bottle cages on my Epic. I hate bottle cages on the seatpost, looks crap. Also the multitool in the frame is a winner. The lunchbox with spare tube and co2 cannister I dont use. Looks horrible, i might consider adding it to a long race like 100 miler or something.

The SWAT toolbox needs a third hole drilled into the frame. You can get a Specialized bottle cage that will allow the attachment of the SWAT multitool to the bottom of it. As far as I can see, the chain breaker should fit most steerer tubes, it basically replaces the headset cap.

My idea was to replace the headset cap, attached a third bottle cage mount on seatpost for the third bottle mounting of swat kit with the cage with mounting point. Is there a bottle cage mount and seatpost clamp in one on the market?

You don't need a hole drilled. The toolbox has hole that bolts to bottom of Specialized bottle cage and then small metal strip that connects to bottle cage holes already in frame.

I converted my swat to carry more tools (plugs, leatherman, spare cable, nuts and bolts) and strap tube to frame or load it in small tool bottle that goes behind seat post. The tube that fits swat is slimeless so not ideal.

Thinking of getting the Conceal carry MTB Tool and Swat MTB XC Box

Because they are not available in my local Spaz shop I cannot visualy check them out without ordering them, so....

Does anyone have feedback on these and in particular the tools that come with them, ie the chain tool and CO2 twist head.... do they work well?

The steerer tube conceal carry tool stashes an emergency multi-tool and chain breaker inside the steerer tube of a suspension fork for easy transport and instant access. On the tool, you'll find a wide array of Allen keys and a Torx wrench, so you'll be able to get out of any trail-side jam.

The Swat MTB XC Box Fits one Turbo 29-inch inner tube, SWAT™ tire lever, CO2 twist head, and 25g CO2 cartridge (not included)

Chain tool is a bit fiddly but works as you would expect, box works fantastic

Thanks, to be expected i suppose....most of the "pocket" style chain tools are a bit fiddly

Any idea how heavy that steerer tube tool is?

Seems like a lot of metal to add to the bike... but then with an XL size and 2.3 tyres....wtf

Pretty sure it's under 100 grams... Actually it has to be, it's tiny

So I found one of these tools, it was installed on a new Levo they were building in the shop.

Its more than a chain tool and definetly not tiny....

It’s at least 6 inches ???? and also contains various Allen / torx keys, 2 spare chain links and has a long enough handle to make not “fiddly”

It fits in the fork steering tube , not just under the top cap type chain tool ( the fiddly one)

Pretty clever and smart, but I don’t think I will be fitting one... there is still some weight weenie left in my bones.

Whats the pricing like on the steerer tube device?

Wolftooth components make bottle mount extensions, they even have some bags etc to fit.
