Got myself a used Pyga frame (OneTen29), and shopped around (got some great deals on the CWC special past 2 days) for the components. At the end the bike will cost me less than R35K. Major parts will be Rock Shox Revelation, full shimano xt, WTB KOM rims with Hope Hubs.

PM me your email adress and i'll mail you my breakdown. (Go and look at www.quickrock.net when you consider a BB - pressfit BB which can be serviced!!)

Good luck and enjoy!

It will be my dream bike, but if it can be cheaper, all the better! With the XT/SLX groupset, any problems with shifting? I have run a SRAM X9 rear derailleur with X7 shifters and it is constantly giving me issues, always need to reset, even after a cable replacement. Need something reliable!

Definitely like the Stans' Arch Ex wheelset, need something strong, will compromise on weight because I'm young and strong so a few grams here or there will hurt a lot less than a bent wheel.

Just a little advise for gear cables:

Use Teflon Inner cables and XTR Outter as the Teflon reduces friction and the XTR outer is pre lubed internally so it gives great shift performance and lasts for ever.

I only change cables about once a year.

As for price it works out a bit more but worth the extra coupe bucks.

Great, will look into it!

My latest thoughts:

PYGA OneTwenty 650B Frame

Shimano SLX Groupset (2x10) = R7000

Stan's ZTR Arch Ex 650B Wheelset (Incl. 3.30 hubs) = R5510

Rock Shox Sektor RL Solo Air 130mm Fork = R5147

I am not sure about the hubs on the Stan's wheels. Can anyone advise?

Hope hubs for sure. But consider Spank Oozy or WTB i23 rims.

I would spend a bit extra and get at least the whole drive train XT with XT shifters...it just works great, and you never struggle with gear changing.

I would definitely spend more on the fork, the Sektor is old technology and not that sensitive on the small bumps. Go test ride a bike with a RS fork with the charger damper, its really that good. Try the Revelation or just go all out and get the Pike. A Pyga OneTwenty with a Pike up front will allow you to ride down most SA DH courses while still being super light for your 80km plus races.
