Hero Adventure Park at Heia Safari

Do what modderfontein does... On a Saturday and Sunday, pitch an umbrella and a table outside the main gate with your number boards and indemnities, and let people hop straight onto the yellow route there where it joins up with the main road...

And everyone can just Park their cars along that dirt road, and if they block up the entrance to Heia, then they had it coming...

That would only make the sad situation worse.

I agree with Small Fry about the parking situation here, no need to give the "lovely" new owners any ammo against HAP...HOWEVER.. if, I was really desperate to go ride there I'd do what Byron mentioned, turn left into yellow as opposed to turning right into the main gate, ride to my heart's content and pay a HAP representative while in there... if there's none around, I'd make sure I get the money to HAP via eft or something.. Heia won't see a cent of mine.

Where would you park then? I'd also be concerned with the ;););) land owners nailing you for trespassing. It is their land after all and to be honest I wouldn't put it past them.

Edit: name calling.

ja, honestly if they can't sort out the mess I won't be interested in going there. I won't trespass / poach a ride just to show them. More than enough other venues. What boggles the mind is that the landowner is shooting himself in the foot. The restaurant is packed with cyclists on the weekends. Does he not care for this revenue and does he think that once he has HERO off his land that the trails will stay conditioned without maintenance...Wonder if he thought about this expense.

All that will happen is that this situation will cause MTBers not to go there anymore as it has become rediculously expensive with the dual payment.

This will in turn cause Hero to not be able to maintain trails etc anymore (just wouldn't make sense).

As soon as they decide (out of necessity) that they have to withdraw from there the landowner will just keep on charging the R40 and new people will start coming there.

So the only guys that will be losing out here are MTBers and Hero.

Pity.

All IMO off course.

On the restaurant topic I couldn't agree more. Of the five weeks I was off the bike. Three weeks in a row I had breakfast there with mates who'd just had a jol on the trails. Fail heia

I don't understand how Hero can win a high court injunction that orders Heia to cease obstructing their business, and Heia can just ignore it and do their own thing? What's the point of a high court order if it can just be ignored?

Offical Statement on Current Position of Hero Adventure at Heia Safari Ranch

Dflip, and Hero Adventure, I really hate seeing all the funds of MTBers going to Heia instead of you guys! So hence the reason for my recommendations of gathering your trail fees from other sources instead of people driving through the gate... like online eft's, digital coupons, QR codes, somebody sitting at the entrance to the yellow route etc...

Like LTG, I would much rather do an online EFT, email my proof of payment to you guys, and skip the Heia Safari gate all together in the interim whilst all these politics are sorted out (illegal politics by the way)...

I am aware I am hating on Heia right now because of my perception that they are contravening a high court ruling... but I have no other information from Heia's perspective to disprove my hate...

Yeah, its terrible not knowing the full agenda of this new land owner. But currently he is not doing himself or his venue any favours.

From the information that my wife gathered when the initial thing started to unfold is that the new land owner is keen to develop and maintain the trails, being a rider himself. Thus me thinking he is keen on the revenue stream, and does not want Hero involved.

If he is to gain anything from this relationship he needs to deal with the fact that he will not gain any revenue from the mtb'ers/trail runners/swimmers. However I suggest he ups his service levels at the restaurant, lower his prices and he will be printing money from that source soon.
