I like the way you hold your helmet in the last picture - it is almost as though you miss your boep and need something there  :whistling:

Congrats by the way - awesome effort!!

started Cycling in my early twenties and went from 100 to 95 in first six months then started seriously cycling and dropped to around 75 kg .

Due to work etc could not cycle much for a few years and ended up on 100 kg again in 2008 .

Started cycling again and dropped to 83 kg.

Due to a good appetite for chockaletes and cakes can not seem to get rid of the last 5 or so I would like to.

14/15kg's

110+- when I started..

95/96 now. Eating correctly helped more than weight lost through riding though, but the riding was the inspiration.

I started at 102.5 in Jan 2011.  I lost most of the weight (25kgs) by dieting (low carbs, low fat, low alcohol) and running.  After 2 years my knees said no more running and I took up cycling.  I have managed to hold it at 77.5 since then and have even dropped a further 2.5 to 75kgs (179cm tall) for this years CTCT.  Size 42 to 32!  Sp 27.5kgs in total.  The best part for me is how easy cycling is to keep the weight under control.  But then I do put in decent mileage.  8068kms last year.

Not all lost through MTB, but I started eating healthier in order to better perform on the trails.

I started at 106kg in January last year, 1.66m "tall"

I'm down to 71.3kg and seem to be stabilizing there. I was hoping to reach 69, but I'm just not dropping anymore. Chuffed

Have i noticed any differences?

When walking around i feel the same but there's other things.

1. I don't have to hold my breath when bending over to tie my shoes.

2. I can see my little friend in the shower.

3. I sleep better

4. More confidence (not sure why)

5. Got sick only once last year. Use to be sick all the time with a cold in winter.

Noticed my avg bike speed increase as i lost weight. started at 22kph avg, then 24 now at 29kph. Thats over 50-100km distances.

Damn, speedwise you started where I'm now (I started cycling in Nov 2014), but only getting to 22kph average over 50km. (Full knobblies though).

Have dropped from 112kg to 107kg thus far.

Hoping to do a 24kph avg on the 52km Tour de Stellenbosch this weekend. :)

Edit: Oh, and I'm sort-of proud that I managed to make the very last seeded group for the CTCT (6E)

Flippen fatty!

Mind you being taller than 2m you can carry some extra weight that others cant.

Well done, just keep going. I am doing my first CTCT aswell. Starting at 3H.

I only started doing 50km when i weighed around 107kg. Took me around 2hrs back then. I now do it in 1h35.

Right in the beginning i started off with 1.8km rides. Fel like i was getting a heart attack after the first ride. I kept at the distance for 1-2 weeks then moved it on. SO iwent from 1.8km then 5km then 10, 14 then 17 then 30km... now doing 3 rides a week a min of 30km when i feel lazy.

I started off on a road bike although i do have a mountain bike as well. Something weird i noticed with my heart rate monitor is that i achieved much higher heart bpm and burn roughly 100Cal more on the road bike than on the mountain bike (on the road) although it feels like i was working sooo much harder on the mountain bike. I cant explain. To keep the mountain bike going at 22kph was murder on the legs.

Right in the beginning for the first 4 months after i could managed 10km, my routine use to be the same route - 30min cycling at max speed every 2nd evening.
