Tell her husband to stop being a box and ride with his wife. If you willing to buy a bike for the wife man up and slow down and ride with her.

Don't be a stravahole.

Its not that he doesnt want to, he does sometimes but he has to ride with his son who is training for SA champs and is to young to ride on his own sometimes

I know there is an 'older' group meeting around 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Fratellis. It is a mixed bunch.

I have spoken to a few of the men and they seem really nice and willing to assist. The group vary in size depending who pitches for the ride.

Where along the spruit is she based?

They must see the improvement in their cycling if they have a go at it with single speeds...

I've been told not to ride the Spruit alone. Would it be safe enough for two women together?

I ride it alone. These days only the section from Emmarentia to Hurlingham. (Although the area after Fratellis when travelling North is becoming super doggy now too.)

Edit: I guess it also depends on the womans ability to sense danger. If something seems dodgy rather make that your sprinting section and get away before you become a target. Also, I do not take responsibility for me saying it is save to do so and then someone gets attacked.

should I post an answer with a disclaimer? ;) I think it generally depends which sections you ride and at what time of day, but to be safe, and here is where my disclaimer comes in; no.

One day soon I will be riding the spruit, as with everything in Joburg, don't be stupid and try to avoid dangerous situations. I personally would not ride it alone. A small group is better, more social and perhaps more fun. Not easy to an active group of ladies together to cycle though.

Too late! I'm going to hold you liable! :w00t:

May I ask why you ride alone? Have you not been able to find a group either?
