Shortlist of the best few movies of the past few years(or decades)?

It really depends on what genres you like. My list probably won't be the same as your list. My best suggestion is pick a movie you enjoyed and go look up the director and the writers on IMDB to see what else they made.

Some great classics are often overlooked in favour of bigger more memorable titles.

But this was superb to watch again. Leon, The Professional and in some places the movie even goes by the name Matilda.

Jean Reno is probably one of the most underrated actors imo.

Natalie Portman makes her acting debut as teenage Matilda.

and nobody quite does this particular blend of deranged villains quite like Gary Oldman

Watched Letters from Iwa Jima this weekend. Superb.

Now you need to watch Flags of our Fathers.

The 2 movies are companion movies one from the Japanese point of view and one from the American.

Alien Oven Can't (2017)

My score - 5/10. Pretty special effects - terrible writing and the dumbest characters ever to helm a spaceship. Seriously, each and every one of them at one time or another seemed to be a contestant for a Darwin Award. Quite frankly, shortly after they landed I started cheering for the alien. These characters were too stupid to live and expand the gene pool. A mediocre film at best and a disappointing addition to the franchise.

This scene

This movie

advanced alien life form with heat detection abilities can't detect a 6 foot 200 pound human from 2 meters away, but a mouse - no problem

sounds plausible...
