The weather forecast for the Ride is really confusing...

I believe in two things: Windguru and yr.no

Earlier this week yr.no was showing massive amounts of rain for Elgin from Monday all the way through to Wednesday. Just to confirm I decided to check on Windguru too, but according to them there was only a slight chance of a very light drizzle on Monday afternoon.

Roll on to today & I check it again. Now according to yr.no there is only 1mm of rain forecast for Monday. Super chuffed to see the improvement in the forecast I checked it to Windguru again... which shows torrential rain the whole of Monday! WTF?! Are they screwing with us? Who is lying, yr.no or Windguru?!

When you climb on your bike every morning, look at the sky - then you will know what the weather is doing

Some more stage racing / camping tips:

I always pack my cycling kits for each day in ziploc plastic bags so they keep fresh and don't mingle with the used clothes. Especially important when it's raining.

My emergency spare tube is taped under the top tube of my bike. I also put the tube in a ziploc bag before taping it to the bike. If your tube is not clean when inserting it into the tyre it might be quickly damaged by friction.

Don't bring a pillow. Bring a pillow case and stuff it with your clothes.

Wash your hands before eating. Carry a little bottle with disinfect soap and wash your hands often.

For all of those people that were asking about parking.

I was at the start of the adventure this morning to see my father off. There is a dedicated parking field for those who want to leave their cars there for the duration of the event.

Monday is shaping up to be a bit more than a cold front, its still too early to say definitely what is going to happen, but as of now it is not looking like 'normal rain', rather more like a significant weather event. Just be prepared.

Prepared for what? Torrential rain? Wind? Snow?

be prepared and be safe chaps and chappete's.

I will be keeping an eye on this one for sure, this time last year was when the floods were on the way (ok, maybe a month later) - but this is the time for the big storms to come.

Hmmmmm. I had suggested to my current wife that she better pack a gillet, there may be some drizzle. If she sees that she'll pack her book instead.

OV was open last year, was actually nice seeing the riders come through, we went riding EARLY to get to a nice spot. The twat on the leading motorcycle was a bit of a douche and kaked us out for being there and 50 meters further he went through a fence with his bike and the wire got stuck in his rear wheel. Luckily for him we were there and helped him to get unstuck and catch up to the leaders again.

K@k advice. Always bring a pillow. I don't want to sleep on smelly, uncomfortable clothes.
