Is anyone aware how much tar road there will be in the race? Looks like a fair bit from the map, am not complaining, just inquisitive?

From my terrible memory about 10% or 5km. Mostly just crossings and transitions.

How do we find out about our seedings?

Just spoke to the guys.  They are busy doing the race numbers etc.  Will be sent out today.  I need to arrange a courier to collect our numbers.

I have entered am looking forward. Only concern is the amount of riders when it narrows in the storm water drains.. water and concrete is a slippery thing.. one rider wipes out and takes out 10 with him/her?...

Kinda like any other race?  :w00t:

because you cant ride this whole route on a normal weekend.

Okay, point taken. So apart from where you can normally ride, it would be fair to say that its abnormal to ride through sewers then.

It's not about where you can normally ride. I'm on the spruit almost every weekend but I still entered the race as it is the only one of it's kind in SA to my knowledge.

Where else will you get the opportunity to cross a dam, drop into a sewer, sprint through a golf course etc? All of these things makes this a completely unique racing experience.

What's up with all the negativity?

You guys are going to make the organisers not want to come to the hub again, as you aren't giving any constructive criticism only negativity base on your idea of how the day is going to be. Rather do the race, come back and say, "Hey Juma, limit entries next time to 4000 please as it was to congested" else go stand in front of the mirror and tell that person what you think is going to happen cause he will care more than we do !

Fully agree with you, looking forward to a fun day out in Jozi. Cruise around the spruit & streets & gutters & golf courses. Followed by a couple of cold ones with mates.

Some okes are just the embodiment of misery.

Leave the race to those who are interested. Don't bash those who want to do the race.

It's a cool initiative and we can be thankful that there are people out there who decided to host the race.

Spot on... it's unique and it's going to be fun if you approach it with the right attitude. The storm water drains I have seen have been cleaned (and are still being cleaned), the scaffolding is very rideable (the stair ones are for a quick portage ;) ), there will be bottle necks I reckon, but hey, have a chat with your friends, share a laugh, enjoy being on your bike with like minded people

We're riding the Koppies, storm water drains, golf courses, a 700m long underground tunnel; we go through Zoo lake, over Jan Smuts, on a bridge over Oxford, ride next to a highway, through parks, and then finally hit the Spruit for the final cruise home, which includes a massive floating bridge. And there's beer at the finish

Horrible, horrible day out, gonna stay at home and mow the lawn or go hit some endless jeep track

Leave some beers for the slowpokes
