And a final note, due to the success of the event: Hollard, the race organisers, as well as some other interested parties, are soon going to be looking into more ways to improve and sustain the Spruit going forward. That's a win all round.

Nice initiative for the Spruit...BUT please get guys involved who frequent and look after the trails in an informal capacity, we wouldn't want you to listen to all the criticism and turn it into a jeep track. It's a special place...sewers and all. Other than that great response from the team...Give this man a bell

Hi to All and J'sbella

It's sad to hear that your husband broke his hip ...We did at the time ask if he was ok and you commented that the medics were on the way. At that time there were no Marshals redirecting us, we chose not to cross as we felt it was unsafe and did not want to end up with an injury like your husband. With regards to the comment of "F him "and "we'll just ride over him", that is not how it happened and I feel it is rather presumptuous of you to assume any of these comments where directed at you and/or your husband. My friend actually commented that if I crossed the water and fell that he would just ride over me....! Friendly banter between mates...! but thanks for posting our pics ...! Awesome ....!

I don't understand the lack of water issue, you were either in or right next to water the whole route! What was the problem?

;) hehe

:P That comment makes me think of Trainspotting..."I chose not to choose life, I chose something else" ;)

I was the guy in the Bull Suit that stepped over J'sbellas' husband, I definitely did not use any sort of foul language in fact i stopped in front of them and carefully stepped over him as the riders by then were all on the right hand side of the water.

In my PM to J'sbella i explained why i chose to step over him as opposed to trying to cross the slippery centre section and possibly injure myself and her husband more, he was laying on the dry bits and across the tunnel length wise.

In my PM i apologised and i will again and i wish your husband a speedy recovery.

The guy in the bull/chipmunk/beaver/brown onesie thing.

Thanks Nerd, honorable thing to do, my buddy owned up to assuming we said something between ourselves "friendly Banter between mates" as he couldn't remember saying anything but thought he must off, however I was also there and I did indeed inform the lady that the medics were just up the road, however we were on the other side of the stream, and didn't say anything about riding over him, or anything about me riding over my friend etc...hence our posts.... LOL we fuming...

Good of you to post and I also appreciate why you stepped the way you did, my buddy fell 7 times!

Also fell somewhere in the drains. I was behind someone about 3m - 4m and we had to cross the stream, he slipped and fell. I tried to avoid him but fell next to him as braking was no option, so I had to served out and slipped. I asked if he was okay after getting up and he said he is okay. Felt bad after a while hoping the guy is really okay as my mate told me he fell hard. So if you reading this, I do hope no serious injuries and that the water wasn't too cold.

O and did my first OTB. Don't ask me how as I don't know. Hahaha! I normally don't use my front brake because of that. There is also some footage on someones action cam. I LOVE MTB!

Not defending the lack of water points or running out of water.

But..... at no point, anywhere, in a suburban event. Did no one see the opportunity for a tap to use?

I was dying to mention this!!  It's an URBAN event afterall..PnP's and house wiff water taps all over the place...

There was plenty of water in the drains.... Hehehe! If you can survive that water you'll live forever.

It makes an awesome photo op when its taken properly, where can I find my photo?

Surely your body tells your mind to steer left or right of it if you are too tired to jump it?

I cant blame organisers for that, its a matter of choice, if the aunty fell and broke her collarbone thats her own fault really.

There was tons of room either side of it to go around.

Damn that was one of the highlights of the race...frikkin awesome. So much space either side you could of got a bus through there.

My hero for the day.... The heat must have killed you in that outfit but when I looked around me you were always there.

This dude was adjusting and making sure his GoPro was recording the whole time in front of me. First you pushed me into the bush then you nearly loose it, then you check if the GoPro is recording, then you adjust it or press buttons. Next time leave it till we get to the bottleneck or when it is safe to do so.
