IceCreamMan Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 My race went south very quickly....11 Kay's in feeling strong, weather was good...some ou in the pelleton fell and the ripple effect caught me out.....bike kaput...arm kaput however I got off lightly ...some ppl got hurt far worse..... Medics did a good job, thanks to them.,.... Now to get estimates of damage and hopefully the insurance come to the party...

Sigh my seatclamp came loose after crossing a rail track. Just glad the post didnt move untill we breaked for the moron who stopped just after the finish. Very happy with 8th place in AL.
Antois Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 This year was my first time riding this event, considering that I am a Mountain biker most of the time, but will do some road cycling on occasion. I seriously want to complain about 2 complete noobs who ruined my whole view on roadies. And road cycling... I started in the BL bunch, and I know it is no top elite seeding, but as we started I pulled the bunch for the first 5odd k's, after that 6 blokes pulled past me to ride in front, which of course I have no problem with. I felt like pulling out the bunch and trying to get up the side a bit more after I heard one bloke said to his friend "push the f***** off the road so he's off the bunch" and the continued to laugh.  Guys.. It is a race, hoping people will play fair, because this changed my entire view of road cycling and mostly roadies.. Now I am sure some people will read this and say " yeah stay to mountain biking" but we are all in the sport for the love of it. In all honesty I basically felt like pushing someone off their bike... Which would lead a ban of cycling. Just lifting my opinion here

Well done to the 2 guys who broke away and stayed away, that couldn't have been an easy task. Lost the main bunch with about 20km to go but managed to sneak in just under 3hrs. bmw1za Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 OMG... What a long Day !!! My AL start was going beautifully, sat about 12th wheel rather comfortably UNTIL !!! The 16km Mark... my legs started cramping (And Just never stopped)... Tried everything in the handbook but alas it was My Day To Suffer ... 3h57 ( Haven't ridden so slowly in a long while) . Kudos to the guys that held it together
