Apparently Shimano, more brake scream with Avid. Looks like a brave lighty to me!

Avid does need more bleeding ... Must be Chucks kid, being so calm

Seen pics of this happening with Hope brake levers, manufacturers should perhaps design the lever end in a way that it can't stab you so easily, granted this is an accident but still it's the whole damn lever inside the guys body. I've had a similar thing happen in the sea with the barb under the tail of a skate, went straight through my finger in one side out the other, happened so fast didn't feel a thing. Was a bit sore afterwards though

One should never skate near barbed wire in the ocean

Sjoe, that looks very sore.

I have a few questions, Please don't get me wrong.

On the other thread it seems like the kid was riding the 50 km distance as the incident happened at about the 25 km mark.

1. What was the kid doing on the 50 km race. He looks about 10 years old. Isn't there a age restriction based on distance?

It's not confirmed that he was riding the 50km. Many events merge routes, so it's likely that this took place where the 50km and 25km merged.

2. Why was he riding alone and where was his chaperon or adult supervision?

Actually according to some people who have been in contact, his mother was riding with him at the time.

3. Why was he mixing it up with the big boys?

He wasn't "mixing it up with the big boys" A group of grownups passed and one of them knocked his handlebar, causing him to fall.

From My experience... Yes there are some guys who ride inconsiderate but as you go back in the field it calms down and people are more aware of other riders and do give way.

Ya the same thing happened to a kid at the spur school series on the same day in front of my eyes. Was a very similar incident however in this case the guy was knocked over in the sprint out of the blocks.
