Mornings: Republic, William Nicol, Mattie, Coleraine to Rivonia at around 5.30. Then Rivonia, Alon, Ridgeway, Bowling, Western Service - cross motorway on pedestrian bridge, Old Pta, Thora Crescent at around 7.20

Afternoon at around 5.00 - Thora, Old Pta, cross motorway on pedestrian bridge, Ridgeway, Alon, Rivonia, Kelvin, Summit, Colerain, 14th, Mattie, William Nicol and Republic.

About 16km each way. Mostly on pavements and paths.

Anyone know of or does a route from Woodmead/Buccleuch to JHB CBD (close to ABSA Towers). Louis Botha is the straight line route but a bit of a death trap with the taxis.

Only alternative I can see is Katherine ---> Sandton Drive  --> William Nicol --> Jan Smuts --> over Nelson Mandela bridge --> Ntemi Piliso --> left in Marshall Street.

Any advice from fellow hubbers? Should I stick to using my car?

Try it. You might like it. Just assume you're invisible and also that everyone is out to kill you. That way you'll ride as defensively as possible. Make sure you're not in a hurry.

16.00 is a bit early, I would be keen, but only around 16.30/17.00. How busy is the route in the evenings does anyone know???

I'm very flexible, but depending on what time I get to work and of course my work load, my home time might vary. I will be starting to cycle to work from the 7th.

Does the morning time suit you?

I'm doing N1 City Goodwood to Kenilworth via Pinelands & Milner Road. From 7:30am every alternative day, looking to make this a regular thing. Return trip from the Racecourse in Rosmead Avenue the same way departing at 5:30pm.

I just saw a facebook link tweeted to Table Mountain Bikers with details of a bike bus from Rhodes Mem to Wembley Gym. Would you be cycling road or over the mountain?

Preferably road, haha. But every now and then I might tackle the mountain if I want to exercise. My idea of commuting is just that, commuting, not training. Saving money on petrol and avoiding traffic. Awesome I'll check the page out!

I'm really looking to mountain bike, I'm more focused on using commuting as my training instead of going to a spinning class in the evening. I dont have FB, so not sure if there was any more responses to the suggestion. But I'm sure there has to be more people wanting to commute and  avoid the ridiculous evening traffic!
