At 42 this is my first broken bone so treading on new territory.

This was mine...

I could have ridden within 6 months but in the end it was 6 months of no serious riding, I'm afraid.

Biggest thing is if you fall again... it's always onto that body part that was injured.. sod's law

But with pins the bones are pretty secure, I never had a cast, just a brace that I took off for showering

I think spinning and exercise bike are your best options and you will know when you're ready.. but don't push it to start with.

In the end I found riding was more effective than physio for recovering wrist movement, other than the physio lady had ulteria motives!!

And I forgot.. your age makes a big difference to healing time.... I'm a senior :whistling:

so that's where you keep your hanger when riding :)

Women reported the accident herself to Saps, let's just say she has a different version to the events that happened. She has an eyewitness you have an eyewitness. However with a good lawyer you can nail her.

This is the way I see it.

Did you hit the cyclist ? No.

Then why did you return ?

Did you hit the cyclist ? Yes.

Did you leave your details or wait for assistance till he was well enough to look after himself ? No.

Well then we have no choice but to treat this as a hit and run.

Rest it up and let it heal.

I had a similar fracture across the joint bed of the wrist base in the wrist joint (which appears to be the worst you can get). I got frustrated and started riding and doing things around the house. It healed skew and had to be reset which used up another 8 weeks and was very painful.

FWIW: I had a good Orthopod and he got it all right and it hasn't given a problem at all since then but it was 16 weeks in plaster followed by a very slow start to riding as it was very weak.

Riding your bike will be the least of your frustrations...

im not choosing sides just stating the facts. As always there is 3 sides to a story. I'd love to believe our fellow cyclists version though.

Woooooah, calm down tiger.

Nobody is forced to take sides, nor were you accused of doing so, and even if there is three sides , a hit and run will remain a hit and run unless she can prove it was not her car that knocked him over.

This place is driving me nuts lately, comment constructively and one gets accused of trolling and whatever else.

What is wrong here lately .

I'm am calm, lol

I think you should calm down, don't you think? :-)

How can it be a hit & run if she returned to the scene to check if all is ok then immediately reported it to SAPS? She probably left the scene as she maybe felt threatened, I don't know, but it's a possiblity?

Sorry for the question but wasn't there a 1.5m law recently approved in the Western Cape regarding the distance a car should maintain while passing a cyclist?

only 1m was passed not the 1,5m we were hoping for.
