Guest Smimby Posted September 18, 2014 Share No social rider that took Sudafed or similar ? Come on, surely they can not expect every last social last 3rd finisher to walk around and check EVERYTHING they put into their bodies? I have a job and ride for fun, so now I want to do the EPIC and hence I must become like a pro???? Lefty V and Spoke101

VicanZA Posted September 18, 2014 Share cry me a river this topic is becoming, I wanna see a dope only race! lets see what the limits r and who is willing to push themselves to the edge. I wanna see super human drug induced attacks one after another, they can race clean at all the other events after that. So I say we have a once a year full dope race. "Snort Mountain" Who's with me? rock Posted September 18, 2014 Share they should make it that that if one rider is bust, the partner, who we assume is clean, then gets banned for life as well, that way the doper gets a snotklap or two from his partner as well
SwissVan Posted September 18, 2014 Share I see no concernThe rule is clear Qué!! He (DG) doped cheated with epo...That should be a concern.I dont get this draw a line (2013) thing shaking my head...again
rock Posted September 18, 2014 Share why does it matter what product a doper used (I am not condoning) but hey, if you're gonna cheat, do it properly huh?

I have a job and ride for fun, so now I want to do the EPIC and hence I must become like a pro???? I guess it's a line they have to draw in the sand. There would be too many loopholes and grey areas if they said some people are permitted to have certain substances but others not. It's unfortunate for those taking part just for fun but I understand why they have to take a hard stance.
Smurfy Posted September 18, 2014 Share If it were up to me - no Nolan, no Owen, no David...no dopers at all. Kevin is the big shot - no reason he can't refuse to give out tainted entries.New to the sport, when did Owen transgress.
milky4130 Posted September 18, 2014 Share So theres a nice little clause with regards to dopers riding epic "The ban applies to riders who have been sanctioned for an offence taking place after January 1, 2013." This means that technically someone like David George could ride epic next year. IF that is the case then the following statement of his rings very hollow : “I don’t care whether a rider has been banned for three months or three years, if you cheat then we don’t have time for you - even if you are not earning a living from cycling, as is the case with these riders,” said Cape Epic founder Kevin Vermaak. “This is a new era in cycling, things are changing and I don’t want to entertain anybody who still feels the need to dope.” I will be very interested to see how this pans out I think the KV statement you are taking too literally & out of context. As the others already mentioned here if that's the case, then Owen et al should never ride the Epic again.
SwissVan Posted September 18, 2014 Share why does it matter what product a doper used (I am not condoning) but hey, if you're gonna cheat, do it properly huh? Well if u took epo you definetly intended to cheat by increasing performance, cannot say it was because of an injury / contamination or whatever excuse.... Some of the other stuff as in recent cases have less performance benifet and can have some slighty plausible (excuse) for being in your system

Spinnekop Posted September 18, 2014 Share Smurfie: " New to the sport, when did Owen transgress?" Many moons ago when he was a pro rider. Hy was once part of this forum......Don't know if he still is but yes.....he too was naughty and took a sip of the magic potion.
