Would explain the broken windscreen (and her face)I was thinking the same thing. Happened to me before too. I think that is what happened to Burry also. I saw a Video clip of a motorcyclist killed also in the same manner.

Baaisikilist Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Definitely looks like a head on. If she was struck from behind her rear wheel would show more signs of damage. Car probably turned in front of her and she swerved to avoid it and landed on the bonnet/windscreen. Front wheel also doesn't look too damaged from the limited bit I can see in the pic. Possibly took the impact side-on.Looks like the people in the pic could be the occupants of the car.

Problem is most motorists do not anticipate the speeds we are getting and when they look left and right they see us, but assume we are like the majority of casual commuters plodding along at 10-15 clicks an hour, so take a chance on the gap, more often than not getting a serious fright when we're as close as we are! We've all experienced it out on rides. Gotta think for everyone when you throw your leg over! Hoping for a speedy recovery here!
Erroli8a8 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 there is a word for it. the drivers brain does not register the cyclist or motor bike when they look. the drivers brain is focused on cars and avoiding them that when they look their brain is looking for cars and neglects all other info. I am not justifying this at all, I also suffer from it from time to time but I make a conscious effort to look for bikes.

Danger Dassie Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 According to Odelle she was hit from behind, apparently the driver was cruising at around 120, which could go a long way to explaining the impact. Other than the obvious bruising, abrasions etc ... X-rays on hand today to check for breaks, otherwise the only thing broken is helmet and bike. One tough lady!
