Hey Hubbers,

Just entered the world of GoPro and was hoping that the GoPro vets out there could offer some advice on options for mounting camera to the handlebars. I'm really just looking for a fwd facing camera and have seen handle bar and headset mounts of widly different prices.

You normally get both Helmet and bar mounts with camera . For helmet mount get the proper  GO-Pro mount , for the bar there apparently are better mounts than the standard Go-Pro ones . The go-pro handle bar mount does move if not tightened properly .

yeah - pretty much what has been said.  Get the aluminium handle bar mount.  Much more stable than the standard plastic mounts.  You tighten with an allen key  - much better than the 'knob' screws.

Also try put a slice of inner tube between your mount and handlebar.  Not sure how much difference it makes (I think I can see a difference).  But at worst, it protects your handle bar from scratching...

I didn't get a handlebar mount with my camera and the helmet mount (3M base plate) doesn't fit my helmet.

Had a handlebar mount but broke with the last Enduro we did so I got a chesty, better quality with it compared to the handlebar mount. Helmet mount is awesome as well.

Converted to the aluminium bracket as I lost my previous GO PRO when the old fashioned knob bracket broke off on one of the decents in last years K2C. Happy to say that GO PRO was replaced by Omnico. Had the proof to show that it was on when the race started, and that it broke off during the race. Great service from them and much better bracket.

Thanks all, really cool stuff on extreme industries web page, not sure about the gun rail mount though!http://www.xtremeindustries.co.za/collections/gopro-3-accessories-1/products/gun-rail-mount

+1,000,000

I had the clumsy plastic gopro bar mount but stopped using it came loose 3 times out of 3.

Bought the simple little extreme industries one and it's been pretty perfect from the first use. Nice and small - lower and out of the way. Gopro make great cameras but lousy mounts.

You'll be spoilt for choice and save a shedload compared to local pricing but be prepared to wait a few weeks for delivery.... Usually 3-5 weeks. You can generally tell the quality from the pictures.

Ja, just got back from the states but was too busy ridin roller coasters to research mounts :(

some race commissaires don't allow you to wear a gopro on your body/helmet during events.

In all forms of mountain bike competition:

14.03.003 Cameras: No form of camera may be mounted or worn by the rider on any part of the body, and may also not be mounted on the helmet of a rider

True but on normal outrides it always goes on top of the helmet . IMHO just makes for better videos .
