There will be a practice ride on Sunday 9th November. We will cycle exactly the same route as in the actual event one week later on Saturday 15th November. You can choose where you want to turn around, but we will do the full 80km road course.

Starting point: Constant Street, Country Estate, Langebaan.

Starting time: 06:45

Cut off time: 11:00

Finish: On Mamba Hill with neutral zone back to start in Constant Street.

Email Club Ry Daai Ding for more details like route map and profile at rydaaiding@patat.co.za

PS. Participation in this practice ride is free of charge, however you will have to pay R42 entrance fee to gain access to the West Coast National Park.

Hope to see you there!

It was a hard one. I started cramping 10km before the finish and was dropped by the group. Still managed a 2.15. I take that road surface any day over traffic at races. If I can I would do this race every year.

Who raced today and how was your day? Found the crappy road surfaces hard going. Less said about the wind, the better!

didnt do it today but I love telling this story from a few years back, just 5kms into the race the A bunch is rolling along passively when out of the blue 2 bucks/Bokke jumps out of the bush & missed the front of peloton by a nostril hair, it was the best near crash experience I ever made. Gotta love cycling in a nature reserve.

Battled with the wind and the horrible road surface. Numbers def less than last year. Wind was absolutely brutal. Looking forward to the mtb race tomorrow. Thats my strongpoint.

Does anyone agree that it felt slower and tougher than the durbie dash?

Constant rolling hills and inconsistent wind direction made it hard to get long and fast stretches.

Then again, I didnt exactly ride in A

It absolutely felt harder than Derbie Dash! I am quite disappointed at myself today. I did a sub-3 in Derbie Dash and only managed 2h48 today - for 80km that is seriously ***. I dont think I expected so many rollers.

I went for a massage this afternoon, just had an epsom salt bath. When I wake up at 5am I will decide if I am seeing you in Paarl. With DC less than a week away, it is probably a really stupid race to do, although I will be riding it super slow if I do turn up. Enjoy it!

The first two "little" climbs before entering the reserve took its toll. As for the road surfaces, I couldnt really tell as I ride with 25mm tyres. as for your 2:48,

I think its quite decent as the winners time is 10 minutes faster than Durbie Dash, and your is 10-11minutes faster than your durbie dash time.

Be reminded that you rode in atleast four different directions on race day.

Yet the wind was always blowing straight into me, was waiting for the tailwind, but that never came.

Did the 80km in 2h45, which included a puncture 7km in   leaving me to battle the wind primarily on my own up and till about 10km before the second turn around where I got picked up by a decent peloton again

Also did the MTB the next day...1h46
