I'm doing a roadtrip - wife and I with a 2 man tent and the bikes.

 

3 days in Nieu Bethesda

3 days in P.E.

Overnight stop in Calitzdorp

4 days in CT

Overnight stop in BW

3 days in Smithfield

Will also be in Uvongo/MArgate area from 13th-21st. Will check Dura Cycles out, as Canfan directed me to this page. 

Apparently there is a trail called "Clearwater Trails" or something similar close to Port Edward +- 15km's out from Margate/Uvongo, saw it recently in one of the cycling mags.

Yes, many. Literally hundreds of cyclists on the road that time of the year. Road rides usually from 05h30 at Johnnie Koen Cycles (some mornings pro riders join). Earlier on weekends for longer rides. MTB is huge in the area. Also have rides everyday. There are many route options. I think they normally start at a similar time at Shell Garage in Voorbaai. But, Johnnie Koen Cycles will be able to assist with all the group rides.

Hopefully I'm not duplicating something already done.

 

While completing my annual leave form (December holidays), for HR, it got me thinking about my ride plans for December. Considering I plan to be 1600Km away from my normal (sometimes boring) training routes, I thought it might be useful to know where other hubbers will be riding (not only for me, but for everyone planning on riding at their holiday destinations).

 

I know there are the various threads already listing where group rides take place, but this can be one central place for the December holiday rides only (say 15-Dec to 05-Jan, give or take a few days).

 

Kleinmond, WC, is my base for 2 weeks - so a few rides to GB/Somerset West, Hermanus, or at Oak Valley/Lebanon Forests are on my list. No skinny wheels for me this year, but I'm willing to join a road ride if there are any.

I am staying in Prigle Bay (Christmas/ New Yr) . I have ridden Kogelberg/Palmiet b4, but i am not sure it will reopen in time (??)

 

Just completed W2W, so would LOVE to do Hemel-en-aarde again & of course, the stunning Paul Cluver trails

 

Will be on my own, so anyone keen to ride, would be happy to meet up?

We staying at home, with our local trails.  Anyone hitting Karkloof or Howick trails in the holiday are welcome to give us a shout.

Ill be ridig a bike to the local kitesurf spot in the Grand Caymans ( still need to make a board rack for the bike) 30 odd kms a day on the bike and lovely warm caribbian water for kitesurfing

I will be in Strand from the 12th till the 21st of December. Maybe we can meet and do oak valley and some other trails. I will be in George from the 22nd till the 4th of Jan. Anyone in that area that want to meet and do some riding?

I would like to join if you're keen. I'll be in Mosselbay from the 23rd Dec to the 3rd of Jan. Do you know the trails in that area well?

I am surprised nobody has mentioned the Cape Agulhas MTB Challenge in Struisbaai on 20 December. I did it last year and have entered again. You get to ride on the beach and enjoy some great fynbos regions. The very sandy bit away from the beach was tough for me last year but this has apparently been reduced.
