If you don't mind me asking, how much does your bike weigh? Will also be getting a Volcan XC29 soon, and was just curious about the weight after the conversion.

To Be honest I haven't weighed it Yet , It is a very light frame , but My wheels are heavy , I'm looking to get lighter race wheels in the new year sometime , but what Ill do is weigh it without wheels and then Ill drop You a PM , I think then You will get some indication , But ill weigh the complete bike anyway and let You know .

Recently upgraded my 2x10 to 1x10.  Crank is SRAM XX with 120 BCD so the smallest chainring I could get is 36T.  I could put a 32T on the 80 BCD if needed.  I think the 36T shoul dbe fine for me as I had 39T which I used about 95% of the time.  I also have the SRAM X0 derailleur which I had to purchase a longer b-screw for to enable it to shift to 42T at the back.

Built a 1x setup onto my new bike. Tested at a muddy karkloof and works a charm.

Gear ratios got me up all the big climbs without a hassle so don't think I need to go any wider on the cassette just yet.

Zee rear mech with 11-36 xt cassette.

32t Kalbo z-ring with normal length chainring bolts.

Deore 3x crankset.

Setup was a breeze, don't quite have my chain line dialed yet but should be cool once I throw in some washers.

Raceface 34T front with a 11-36 rear- so far perfect for Gauteng riding!

Will test it in the Eastern Cape in a weeks time  :D

Nice ! Glad it's working out for you. Let me know next time you're up this way for a ride. FYI just got 2.5mm chainring spacers in on Friday if you need.

Converted my 26" Stumpjumper with the 34 RaceFace NW, X9 Type 2 rear derailleur and X9 shifter with a Shimano XT 11-36 cassette and chain. Running like a dream and only feel like I'm missing a gear on the tar which is irrelevant anyway.

Cannot recommend this setup highly enough.

Here's my PYGA OneTen29 in it's latest form............YES, I know there's no dropper post!

XT 11-42 with OneUp 42T and 16T

XT Shadow+ RD, GS

Wolftooth NW 32T chainring with spacers

+2 links in the chain

C-guide Eco chainguide

Before you ask, I'm using the chainguide as I am not using the clutch, because I find shifting into the 36-42 range not as stiff this way and it avoids any chain slap I may have. I do have the OneUp RAD cage but have not tried it yet as I found everything works fine just with the b-tensioner fully in, did not need to remove the gromit.

Gearing seems fine but I may try 34T up front and see if I can still make the hills!

Hi there, I am looking to convert my oneten to a 1X system and like the look of yours, where did you source your chainrings if I may ask? Thanks
