Two choices:

Whine and be unhappy

OR

Celebrate the occasional coming together of so many communities under the guise of sport and over thousands of handlebars.

Ag ja... Kla-kous (get ma ready every year for this migraine) hehehe

Reflects how pathetically dependent people are on their motor cars - here's a challenge for them/you/us: for one day in the year, do without your car?

Okay, besides having to drive out to 4-Ways to ride the event.

Please do and keep us updated, it will make me feel so much better.

Just don't know how we harass the other 10 000+ South Africans with the same opinion. Oh wait we can harass them by going out and riding. It really pisses them off to see fit healthy people enjoying the outdoors and living life.

Yeah, although I've officialy retired from the newspaper scene, I could get the details, but there would be issues. Firstly, the terms and condition of contributions to the letters pages allow for nameless rants, so sharing the contact details would be unethical.

Secondly, letters page editors are, by and large, lazy - it's an easy gig - and will publish whatever crap lands on their desk. This is really a case of "don't feed the troll".

I would love to know how our regular ray of sunshine who submitted that letter reacted to hearing that this Riversands venue is secured for the next ten years along with the route in some form or another...probably is laying in hospital right now recovering from the stroke...

What an idiot - they 947 site gave people alternative routes...and if it really affected them that badly they should have known not to leave the house...

Of course we are making the assumption that just because they added the cycle challenge into their moaning that the race was actually their reason, maybe they're just *** with directions...har har

I saw the News24 rant and while I sort of understand the odd dozy person who doesn't read notice boards etc being a little inconvenienced I can't understand why they cannot or refuse to see the big picture.  These events are money spinners for a lot of local businesses.

Strangest of all are a few of the small towns involved with stage races where a minority get vocal about the inconvenience of say, not getting immediate service at the bottle store as it's crowded with cyclists (ha ha).  Meanwhile the event is a major boost to businesses in the area as well as the charities.

Probably completely blotto and returning from a nightclub. He/she sure as hell didn't get up early to go out and not realise there were implications.

Amazing that they do not really know about the road closures, but get the hash tag right

Had exactly the same thought. Cant be bothered to write out the word "should" but get the #tag right.
