Arent bicycles not allowed on roads where the speed limit is 120km/h???

No. Bicycles are not allowed on freeways, you know, the roads marked with this sign:

There are many roads that are not freeways where the speed limit is 120km/h, and bicycles are allowed.

Also, it could have been a case of the motorist was speeding.

Yes, you do get those motorists who are always going 120km and up, and those who think you dont belong on the road. Majority of us cyclists are motorists too, hence we tend to give more room for cyclists. However not everyone are cyclists and not everyone will think like a cyclist or a pedestrian. Unfortunately, I always try and look at it from a cyclist or pedestrian point of  view, and I cannot understand why people will just run across a road without looking, or even if they see a car coming at speed till try and get over and end up being knocked down. Do people think that cars can stop the moment you press the brakes? Do they think they are tanks? Is it that riding 2 abreast makes you invincible?

What I do know is that alot of motorists think they own the roads simply cause they buy fuel and if they do pay their vehicle license etc hence why they drive they like want to and most of them end up in some serious accidents.

No look at the R27, and N7 where it is no longer a Freeway and speed limit 120

It does (sort of) bring up an interesting point.

Cars are licensed and registered and through the number plate drivers can be identified.

Cyclist are anonymous. I wonder how the behaviors of cyclists would change if they were traceable?

With weight and typical speeds of cars, it is very easy to kill some with a car. It's much much harder to kill someone with a bicycle.

More reasons why licensing for cyclists is bad idea here: http://bikecalgary.org/licensing

"Bono falls off bike" has left newspaper commenters in a lather of indecision about what they hate more, Bono or cyclists. Perfect storm.

In one week, Bono falls off a bike and has a door blow off his private jet. Don't ride a tandem with this man. For so many reasons.

Wish they would setup a speed trap going up Krugersdorp hill. They would make a fortune and get a chance to do a few on the spot arrests provided of course you quick enough to jump out and stop the speedsters. They would probably need that high speed unit I see from time to time sleeping on the side of the motorway :)
