Ta muchly, Ryan!

One question - aren't 700c the same diameter as 29"? Or at least the same ERD? Or am I a confused roadie!

Correct. I stated 700C as they'd more than likely have rim brake services. Traditional 29r wheels will commonly be disc based.

Again, many thanks. Of course, you need somewhere for the brakes to cantilever on to! Doh.....

Can you use a CX bike for mtb races??

I have a few mates that ride their CXs in our more 'dirt roadie' type races. Not sure what the rules/ placing/ points situation is. They're not really worried about that.

Not allowed drops on a mtb race... stupid rule.

Is that a new rule? I only ask as a well known local Howteng rider rode the Walkerville Classic on his CX bike 2 or 3 years ago ......

Yeah and Matt de Jongh rode his Cotic on Sani2c...

Having said that selective application of 'rules' would also not surprise me [emoji36]

Or guys just ride and forego an official time. Would be interested to know if it's a recently implemented rule.
