SPARTA-cus Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Help me out hubbers. How usefull are stub ends? Is it cool? Why do we use it? Does it help with climbs? Am I right when I say its useless on a 29er? What if I have a 26"? What is the true meaning of life? So many questions, let's stay on topic! Good times.

Letum911 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I had them on my previous bar (680mm), they didn't make much difference on climbing but when in the saddle for 3 hours it is nice to have a different position for my hands! But on the wider bar (750mm) it's dangerous! Loves giving every tree you pass a hug. In my opinion the only difference is comfort, not performance. And for the weight weenies it's the first to take off

Surv0MTB Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 kept clipping trees and bushes on single track. Found they were a good option for a different hand positions, but since then I have removed them, added additional padding for the ulnar region of the glove, and extra padding on the grip itself (gives me something bigger to hold as I have larger hands) and now no longer need them. Used to think they helped in the climbs but dont think this is really true to be honest. Im climbing better now with a proper hold on the bars.

I had on my first bike and swopped them over as I changed bikes. I like/enjoy them. It's like the thing between 29er vs 27.5 vs 26er vs fatbike, I argue that luckily we all were created differently so what works for me and you might not work for someone else. Just enjoy your bike.
