I really enjoyed the tour.  In terms of the riding and marshaling:  all good.  In terms of the overall organisation:  lots of room for improvement!

They do a lot of reporting and photos of mostly gauteng races, but also tours. Well done CycleNation!

I loved the Tour...

Great race and great value for money!

Every day had something special...

The heat on Gydo Pass (Stage 2) was unreal but finishing that stage felt like I finished another IRONMAN  !

It was really nice finishing up Taal Monument on the last day!

Thanks ASG for a great event!

Route was fantastic, roads in good condition and marshaling perfect. Organization and timekeeping not so great.

Guys and Ladies that did this Tour: where would you put the cut off point ito ability to do this? Are you all sub 3 Argus (NOT 2015...) level? How does this compare to Panorama? I want to enter but don't really want to be alone on the road each day.

Talus you will be fine. There were plenty riders that were definitely not sub 3 argus riders. I raced vets and found it tough going on day 1 and 4, largely due to riding alone a lot after being dropped on these days. Despite the large amounts of solo riding my time would have been good to finish closer to front quarter of open seeded so if I was worried about riding alone I could have ridden there with the group instead.

for reference my times are usually about the same as leading ladies although in this tour I was a fair bit slower on days 1 and 4.

Comparison to panorama: climbing is quite a bit tougher in my view at panorama, but the wind and heat made some 'easy' parts of this tour really tough - weather is a big factor in this tour. I think bigger more powerful riders that are stronger in the wind but perhaps not so much on climbs probably find this tour easier on the whole.

On the whole a great tour. Pity about the elements that were pathetic e.g. timing and results.

Good answer. It appears to be a great alternative to the Cape rouleur.

I would put myself at around a 3:30 Argus time in good weather - so definitely not a race snake.

For the TdB I finished mid pack of Open group - so definitely doable if you put a bit of training in.

It certainly isn't a walk in the park, and could have been a lot tougher if the wind was worse - but definitely doable.

And for a price tag of under R2k - bargain!

Yeah, like I mentioned above, the riding was great - the organisation not so great.

But, by all indications, they will use a dedicated timing system next year - so there should be a big improvement on that front.

Might push up the price a bit - but I guess you can't have everything

I would gladly pay an extra bit if it meant proper timing.

Well with a time of 3:30 over 109km you're no slouch either. Thats 31kph avg - At least in top 15% in the Argus.
