Not at all. I got rid of DSTV and I still stream all my sport via Supersport website. Jut log into their site via Facebook, and voila.

I did that with the world cup and currie cup as well..

Interesting...I'm doff with stuff like this.

I may have asked you before but what is your total cost per month for your viewing/data etc etc?

The sport on DSTV has got me by the balls...

If I get rid of DSTV, there goes all my sport!?

Aaah the good ol quandry that everyone has. I streamed every single world cup match at last year's rugby world cup. I streamed the tour. I steam the downhill. You can stream sky sports for about 10 pounds a month if you want. The only disadvantage if that is not all hd. I run on a 2mb line so I can't easily stream HD... But 480p no problem. Any other sport... Go to a mates house and be social.... There will always be people that couldn't be arsed and just pay the massive fee.

Rumour also has it that dstv will be unbundling shortly

What do you mean by this?

Offering packages apart from the Premium etc bundles. Ie sport only, movies only etc.

Build your subscription, IOW.

That's sounds like its right up my alley, about time I reckon.

I wonder if DSTV is doing this due to loss of customers?? I hope so....rip off artists!!

Too little too late in my opinion.

Most of us have found alternatives to their offerings...

Spare a thought for the slow okes like me.

I wouldn't mind building my own bundle....I don't watch 90% of the channels

I am buying a package for the eurosport streaming this year for the cycling and motorsport.

For local sport, I walk to the pub, buy a castle lite draught and enjoy, much cheaper than DSTV. DSTV never gave me beer, ever.

Yeah, main thing is I don't want to miss any cycling!!

The very fact you are here means you're at least trying to find alternatives which is the step in the right direction ;)

The sports channels are going to work out really expensive I am sure because the licensing must cost an arm and a leg.

Many streaming sites for the cycling!!

I run Kodi on a dedicated mini windows pc in the lounge and a Rasbpi2 in the bedroom, have access to all sky sports channels via the various addons (sportsdevil in particular) as well as eurosport.

ITV4 from the UK covers prety much all the cycling last year, watched the TdF and Giro... and that is a free to air channel so it does not go down on the link get closed.

ITV Sports covered all the world cup rugby and BBC often had the F1.  I understand ITV are taking that over soon... so F1 will also be on free to air, if for any reason the sky sports F1 link is down.

Left DSTV 2 years ago, probably watch just as much sport now as I did then and costs me just the 4mb ADSL which I would have had anyway

They should of done this years ago!!

I hope they do not go the way of sky in the UK, as the sports package addon to the standard package was expensive... and there are many who did not take it .. so still ended up going down the pub to watch sport.

With sky you had

Basic package

paid extra for the sports package

paid extra for the movie package

You could not just take the sports package and nothing else, you had to have the basic package first then add to it... and pay for the additional packages

Yup, they will always nail you with the sport!

That's the only reason the majority of people I know have DSTV....

I'm with Afrihost and have a 4gig Uncapped ADSL Line. Line rental is I think 160 Bucks. And Afrihost is about R399.

So the coverage for cycling is just as good or better than DSTV....based on what you've described above?
